Din’Cara Wo’Diw leaned against the tree and winced. Her body burned from running and this close to the cave she hoped she was safe. Without looking up she knew where the mark would be. Her hand slid up the tree and found the safety mark. Her smile swiftly vanished. Tilting her head back she looked up to see a slash thru the safety rune. She gasped and turned her head back down. The arrow in her upper right chest shifted and she bit her lip drawing blood to keep from crying out. She wasn't safe yet. Pulling her right arm close to her body in hopes to keep the arrow still, she used her left hand to press herself up off the ground and use the tree for support. She looked around then took off at a gentle loping gait towards the cave. She blood trail couldn't be helped. She would pass out soon. She only hoped crossing the river before going to the cave would throw off her hunter.
Orbb del’Streea moved slowly, his eyes of violet peering at the trees and leaves about himself. Shaking his head he listened more still now, his breathing stopped and his mind cleared of all distraction. He heard the thuds, the faintest of foot falls within the woods, thud… thud, rustle. Furrowing his brows he looked about, quickly moving up into a tree, his eyes still peering about as he listened for those steps again. Looking to a new noise he saw a female, she was moving rather peculiarly, though it wasn't in the same fashion as he heard the steps, her's were different. Moving now towards the trunk of the tree he whispered, “Where is your predator girl?" his eyes trailing the almost discernable line as he listened and waited her tracker to find the trail.
Dina listened, closing her eyes and straining her senses. He was gaining. And his wolf would be let loose once she was in sight. She glanced upwards but, unable to swivel her head completely, never spotted her hidden watcher. She leaned on a tree and turned to see the blood trail, then shook her head. This wouldn't work. She was a better hunter than this and shouldn't be leading them to the cave. She picked up a stick and stuck it between her teeth. Biting down she growled as she used her arms to tear a piece of her breeches off. She fell to her knees and spit out the stick shaking her head trying to keep from blacking out from pain. She took a deep breath and moved as would likely cause a weaker mortal to pass out and wrapped and pant leg about her to stop the blood momentarily. Till it bled thru, she would no longer leave a trail. She felt the marking on the tree... safety. She was too close. She suddenly spun left and pushed herself from the tree and ran off parallel to the stream... and away from the cave. She wouldn't draw this danger closer. Her vision shaky and her pain almost overwhelming, her gait no longer silent but soon as noisy as anyone untrained in the woods. She only hoped she had the distance the hunter wouldn't hear where she was stumbling too.
Orbb watched and remained silent, his eyes never glinting in the light, for he kept them veiled beneath his hood. Slowly drawing his bow from beneath his quiver, he looked toward the direction her pursuer would follow her trail. Withdrawing an arrow he silently waited, and then the rustling became louder to him, his hand moving and unsheathing yet another. There were two. Silently he watched what seemed like hours but were only moments, slipping his arrow beneath his sleeve and notching the other he awaited those that hunted his lands. Hearing them approach, seeing the shadow he whispered in lipped words, "One.. two... three" The arrow flying with the silent sting of a viper as it pierced the chest of the wolf, forever silencing and stopping the wolf with a single soft thunk. His fingers moved to the sleeve, his form shifting slightly as he watched the hunter now, his form looking more like bark to those below as his grayed roughed cloak covered over the notching and drawing of his bow string, and he would await the eyes of his prey before he sought to find out more of his purpose.
Dina couldn't run anymore. She had to rest. Falling to her hands and knees she let a small cry escape as the arrow tore dried blood and she bled once more. She closed her eyes. Only a moment… The hunter was far enough behind. She only needed a minute. As the thought finished, darkness took her and she fell over on her right shoulder and to her side closing her eyes. Anyone coming upon her would not see the arrow but merely a passed out woman covered in blood and debris from traipsing thru the woods.
Orbb saw the form of the hunter slip to a tree, smirking now as he lined up perfectly for a pin shot. Pulling harder at his string he aimed and let fly the arrow, it's spiraling straight path carried it into and through the mans shoulder, near his neck and passed deep into the tree. The hunter let out a loud scream and litany of curses followed quickly by the disturbance of birds in flight and another scream as yet another arrow found and went through his opposite side in his abdomen. Each hand that would reach would be pinned as well; causing screams and curses as reversed barbs dug roughly against any attempt to pull from the arrows.
The hunter growled and screamed out. "You little BITCH of a woman! How did you get another bow, little one? It doesn't matter. I am going to have fun tearing your limbs off when I catch you again. The fun isn't over yet." The man struggled at the arrows and the one that pinned his right hand to the tree was low enough on his hand it had missed lodging between bone. He screamed in rage and yanked his hand off, the fletching on the arrows slicing his flesh around the hole the arrow itself had made. The hand free, he now began yanking out arrows. First his left hand then he began tugging at the one on his lower left stomach side. His adrenalin pumping keeping him from passing out as blood began to flow.
Orbb smirked and curled his feet forward, dropping from the high branches, his hand catching a branch now and then, only minorly slowing his decent as he landed with a slight thud, his knees bending and his form dropping, trailed by his cloak which fell and wrapped about him as his bow fell to the ground and blades gleamed brightly as in silence they were drew from sheaths, his eyes not showing beneath the hood as he growled, " For starters, I am no bitch. Be still for you trespass on my lands. What is your purpose, reason, and otherwise damn good excuse for hunting on my lands for insulting me, and for generally ruining the flow of my day?" The blades spun once as he twisted his wrists, the points crossing and steel scrapping slightly as he scissored them and awaited the man's reply.
The man stopped with the arrow half out, the one in his right shoulder still there. "Well well... seems my catch has a champion. Hello PUP!" He laughed and yanked the arrow out grinning wickedly. "So you can't fight without crippling your prey? Sounds like someone that witch would befriend." He looked past Orbb's shoulder and called as if Dina was nearby. "COME OUT COME OUT LITTLE MINX" he laughed when he got no answer. "I bet my little bite bothers her as much as your bother me." He threw the arrow at Orbb’s feet. "Do you know the one you 'protect' is a liar and a thief? She is." He nodded watching Orbb's face. "She came to me, seeking help. Said she was on a journey home but needed supplies and rations. I, being the good guy that I am gave her food, a bed, and provisions as I promised. Yet when it came time to pay me back, the bitch had the nerve to call me a bastard and pulled her knives on me," Shakes his head as if disappointed. "Now... that is no way to thank someone who has given his own bread, his own feathers and even his own bed." He laughed cruelly then. "So I decided I would TAKE my pay. But the little one slipped form me. Now kindly step aside and let me fetch her back to the woods where she belongs and I will 'trouble' you no longer." He began to reach up with his left hand for the arrow in his shoulder.
