Alizabeth walked into the room with her datapad in her hand and scanned the cantina. She had last been in here with Evan when he had asked her to the ball. She smiled and blushed slightly at the memory. They were going to the Ball together. She couldn't wait.
Shaking herself slightly to clear her head she moved to a corner table. Sitting down, back to the wall, three empty chairs before her, she hailed a waiter and ordered a nice local wine. She wanted to try new things, but tonight she had to keep a clear head. There were drinks in this place that could turn a mere human like herself into the effective mental state of sludge in a matter of a few ounces. She was sure she didn't need that tonight.
As she waited for the drink she reached into her pocket for the pad's stylus. There was a clip on the pad to hold it, but for one thing, it was too easily knocked off and lost, and for another, it allowed her to finger the recorder in her pocket that was always on, and make sure it was recording still. As she accepted her wine and signed the tab, she settled to work. She had placed a few recruiting inquiries out and hoped that meeting here would relax any who came to see her about it. She glanced at her chrono at the top of the pad and smiled. It was still a bit before the 'scheduled time' she placed in those inquiries. She leaned back and relaxed as she sipped the wine and jotted notes on her pad. She hoped for a small group, obviously less than ten, to be part of her entourage to Drunkenwell. She already had the photographer, she was meeting with him tomorrow. Now she needed a personal assistant with intel skill and a few good soldiers as body guards. Some would be in civilian clothes, some in uniform. No need to show a full hand when going in. But showing you have an ace, never hurt.
She sipped the wine and watched the room. Dressed casual this time, in a simple black top and denim pants, she kicked one booted foot up onto one of the vacant chairs and relaxed. Anyone who usually saw her in the Senate would do a double take at the beauty in the corner lounging like a hanger rat. But that was the point... to be approachable. She knew enough about the military to know that suits, and propriety were not great magnets. Smiling again she watched the crowd... and waited.

05-06-2011, 03:48 PM Adam Faulkner
Wearing a t-shirt and a pair of jeans, Adam stepped into the cantina. He felt slightly awkward being in civvies, but he could deal with that. He lit up a cigarette as he scanned the bar casually, searching for who he was supposed to meet. After a few seconds, a stunning woman lounging in a corner caught his eye. Too bad he was here on business. That's when he noticed the paperwork strewn out on the table before her. He smiled to himself before taking a long drag from his cigarette before walking over to her.
"Miss Moroveston?" ***

She watched the man approach her. Wondering if he was going to try some lame line on her, she was visibly startled when he called her by name. Sliding her foot off the chair, she sat up a bit straighter and smiled. “I am Alizabeth. Can I help you?” Stunning eyes gazed at him and if he knew what to look for, he would see her measuring him up. Was it to see if he was handsome? Armed? Threatening? Or perhaps she merely wished to make sure she saw all of what there was to see. Whatever her reason, she paused with her eyes back on his and raised an eyebrow inquisitively.
“I am hoping you aren't here just to tell me to take my foot off the seat.” She laughed softly and absently pushed the pile of papers and her data pad to the side as if in silent invitation.

"Well now I don't have to." He merely stood there as she sized him up. Adam could see the gears turning behind those eyes, and he was impressed. He raised his arms and spun around in place, a grin on his face.
"Do I pass inspection, or do you need to pat me down too?" He knew full well that even if she chose to, she would find none of his hidden weapons... No matter how observant she was. Adam crossed his arms over his chest and continued to stand there. ***

Laughing she shook her head and looked coyly at him. “So soon? I don't even know your name...” she started to rise teasing, “But if you insist....” She took one step towards him then stopped. “Hmmmm, on second thought, let's start with names. You have me at a disadvantage, besides the cad remarks. I don't know your name.” She offered him a chair and moved to sit back down. Taking a sip of her wine she watched him. Why was her here? To ask her for a drink? Ask her for directions? Or did she 'remind him of someone he knew... but had made a mistake'? She easily dismissed the last of those random thoughts. He had called her by name. He obviously knew her.
Question was... how? And why was he here?

05-06-2011, 05:09 PM Adam
It was Adam's turn to lift an eyebrow as Alizabeth rose and made to pat him down. This woman was just full of surprises. Unfortunately, she elected not to pat him down, and settled for asking his name. He shrugged innocently before taking a seat in front of her. "Cadet Adam Faulkner of the 22nd TSF... Adam will be fine. I hear you're in need of an escort. I'd like to volunteer my services." He wondered just what kind of mission she was undertaking.

05-07-2011, 09:54 PM Masor
Masor had caught a glimpse of Adam, a recently acquainted comrade that he'd be working with in the near future seeing as their were both in the military group know as 'Devil Dogs'. He was also looking to get to know the man, he'd heard the rumors and tales of one Adam Faulkner and wanted to clarify the more extreme ones.
He was about to confront him on the subject when he saw Adam engage a woman at the bar, naturally he held back, seeing as surveillance was probably going to be one of his jobs in the coming future.
The were making small talk mostly regarding whom each other was, until Adam mentioned the escort. Nearly leaping on the subject, Masor approached the two conversationalist.
"Add two volunteers to that list, Cadet Masor Telek also of the 22nd TSF, and...ahem, I like to go by Masor if you need the clarification", he announced as he slid his way to the area in between the two of them, a smile across his face. A slight sense of awkwardness was settling on his mind.

As he introduced himself as Adam, she smiled. She had been about to offer him something to drink when another approached and introduced himself. This one, Masor he called himself, seemed more the bodyguard type for appearance sake, whereas Adam seemed more the civvy clothes type. She sized them both up then offered Masor one of the two remaining seats.
“Well, gentlemen... Let me tell you what I have in mind. I have been asked to go to Drunkenwell and help finalize their insertion into the Republic. I will be taking a journalist with me to cover the final days till the signing of the official documents. I believe people behave different than normal around cameras. Those with no courage seem to be bolstered, and those with too much are kept in check. Other than that, there may be an intel contact with us as well. I want three, perhaps four guards. Half will be in regular uniforms. The other half I would like in slightly formal civilian attire. You will pose as my attaches. They will be armed, of course. I figure two guards each, one open, one under cover.” She glanced down at the datapad before her. If the two of them took the offer, she would only need two more. Perhaps a female, too, if she can get one to volunteer. Would help the look if a female accompanied the reporter. “I will let the group of you decide leader on each 'team'. Unless there is an obvious rank structure amongst those that go already, I would like it set before we leave. The heat of battle is no place to try and decide with 'stone/datapad/saber' which will be in charge.” She laughed softly at the child's game played to choose major decision in adolescent groups. “If you two are the only ones who step forward, then we will make due. There is no need to decide right away. And also, I would like a word with your superiors before we depart. I will not take kindly to learning of abandonment by those who join me. This is not a mission of glory, boys... this is a chance to bring true peace to a planet in turmoil, and a chance to help the Republic stand back in the good graces of the populace.”
She silenced herself then, glancing from one to the other. She wanted to know now, but she promised she would not press anyone. This had to all come from the heart. No one in the Republic ever did well when forced... and peace was most definitely once of those things you could not be part of if forced.

05-09-2011, 12:41 AM Tal Kote
Well this will be interesting?
-Not like Tal had been on any undercover or body guard style work. It really didn't bother him as much to perform such an assignment. He was a mandalorian. A pathfinder and not to mention the tech individual of the Special Forces unit. It would of been good to call him the SpecForce XO, but he wasn't in the least the second-in-command of the group. Not at all. A cold mandalorian working hard and training even harder. That was all that was needed for him. And well, this little excursion had caught his eye.-
-His dressed attire was of a black coat with white or light gray trim, a sleeveless undershirt, brown belt, white gloves, black pants, and black shoes with red soles. Not much to say the least. Even his hair was tied back into a braid. Down to the middle of his back. And after sitting at a nearby table; well the mandalorian knew this was a job worth getting into. At least in some cases.-
Why not?
-Finishing off his drink; the mandalorian set the glass down on the table. Both of his hands tucked neatly away into his pants pockets. His body turned over and walked to the table where the group of three had met. His footsteps were rather heavy considering that one of his legs was a prosthetic. He stopped a few feet away and cleared his throat to catch their attention.-
"Druckenwell again, huh? So it's finally time for a visit back to that rock."
-His eyes scanned over to Adam and Masor. Adam he had recognized from before, but Masor was a new guy. His appearance said a lot, but did he have the experience to fight. It was a soon-to-be moment for them. His eyes focused in on the girl Alizabeth... was it. Yeah it was. Interesting.-
"Forgive my intrusion. I am Lieutenant Tal Ka'rta Kote of the Special Forces unit these boys are a part of. But you can call me Tal for short. I could'nt help but over hear the little assignment you are going on. And well, I am interested in something like this. It's been a while since I last seen Druckenwell and what it's shapping up to be. So what do you say. Got room for one more lone mandalorian guard at your side?"

Liz had been about to say more when another approached the table. Three... now if she could get one more. "I don't mind who comes but there will be a test. Each of you will meet with me one on one in the days before Drunkenwell. I need to know your abilities and your mannerism. If I don't believe you are ready, for whatever reason, you will not come. I don't care what letters or recommendations you aquire." She looked from one to another and smiled. That smile suddenly would make them question what she truly was.
A moment before, those deep eyes were like pools of a dark skies, star scattered and piercing. Now suddenly, without any true change, they were the dark of the deep pools of lost and yet undiscovered worlds. Places where what crawled below was far more ferocious than she seemed capable of. “Make no mistake, gentlemen... This is no walk in the park. This is no embassy duty with 3 meals and a bed of gilded posts. This is a war zone. Make no mistake...” she looked from one to another as she rose and met each of their eyes in turn. Her voice lowered to am almost menacing level. “I will not tolerate anyone who is coming for glory. I will not tolerate anyone who believes they are better than any other. And I refuse to tolerate anyone who disobeys orders from either myself or anyone else appointed over you in this mission. Do I make that perfectly clear?” Before they could answer, she stood straight once more and the darkness fell from her eyes like absynthe and she smiled. “Any questions?” ***
05-10-2011, 12:32 AM Adam
Adam nodded to Tal as he walked over to the group. "I spoke with our commanding officer shortly before arriving, and we're good to go. I can't speak for my comrades here, but I don't do what I do for the recognition. I fight because I believe in why I'm fighting. I wouldn't be here otherwise." Adam's ears perked up at the mention of private interviews.

05-10-2011, 11:27 AM Masor
Masor agreed with Adam's reason, the only reason he'd joined the New Republic was to help save lives and protect those who would otherwise be slaughtered by the Imperials and other evils.
"I have always been a team player, a solo spot light is just something that makes me nervous and act recklessly, I am not wanting to do this mission for granduer...only to hep those who need it", he replied.

She listened to them speak then nodded. "Then each of you will meet one on one with me to decide the best setup for the mission. Tal, you will meet me at the academy in the morning. Please do not be late. Adam, Masor, you will each receive a data link to your personal contact telling you where to meet me. I wish you luck, all three of you." Her smile lit up her face fully for the first time that evening.
Moving back to sit back in her seat, she glanced up at them. "Feel free to enjoy the evening. I don't wish to keep you here when I am sure you have other things to do, gentlemen." She looked down and sipped her drink not looking back up. She was curious how each would react. Learning how one is dismissed is also a way to discover how a person is inside. Part of her didn't want to be alone, but she wasn't ready to sit and discuss the mission this night with all three of them either. How she hated the conundrum of her life... wanting solitude yet hating to be alone. A small internal grin lit her heart. Sometimes life found a way to take care of both...

Adam didn't have much to do these days, aside from his own training. Which he often took to the extreme. He had never been to The Mirror's Edge before, and wouldn't mind hanging around for a bit. Besides... the night was still young. "I could do with a little R&R... If you don't mind the company that is." ***
05-10-2011, 05:33 PM Liza
Her deep eyes glanced up from her paperwork and raised slightly in surprise. "I am going to test you to be my bodyguard tomorrow and you wish to have a drink with me? How intriguing. I don't mind at all... please." She managed to move the datapad and plassheets aside so there was room for him to set a glass down should he choose.
Looking up to the others she laughed. "Am I going to have to make more room?" It was said teasing, but the fact the table was small and there was obviously something here she wasn't willing to simply put aside to the floor or vacant chair was also obvious.
*** 05-10-2011, 10:20 PM Adam
"I figured, if i'm going to be protecting you, we might as well get to know each other a little bit." Adam plopped down into an empty chair and ordered a stimcaf. He had no inclination to drink alcohol, infact he hadn't drank a sip of anything alcoholic in his life. He liked his mind sharp. "You know... do a little team building... building trust and all that."
"So... I know you're going to Druckenwell to bring the planet into the New Republic. Can you tell me any specifics, about what you are going to be doing exactly?" He had been really curious about that ever since she had mentiooned it, and sipped on his stimcaf as he waited for her answer.

-Well Tal wasn't in the mood for another drink, but this mission was of dire importance. So, what did this mean? Well, Tal needed to get to know his teammates more. Counting that Adam and Masor were both members of the Devil Dogs didn't actually say much. Masor was new to the New Republic and Adam.... well let's see he never had the chance to hang out let alone talk with him. This was the perfect opportunity to do so. And plus he was the only individual in this group and even in the Devil Dogs who had experience with the Druckenwell operation all those weeks ago.-
"Even though these boys are already members of my unit; there is still needing for me to know about you. I am familiar with how Druckenwell runs, and that will give us an upper hand with this mission."
-Moving around the table Tal took a seat at an empty seat. Not wanting to drink anymore; he simply just crossed his arms over the table. Watching and waiting as Adam questioned first.-

Without another word, Masor too took a seat, but his landed himself next to Adam. He said nothing only listened, if they had wanted him to speak they'd have directed a question to him not a broad one such as she'd asked.
If he was to become an adequate soldier he also needed to learn to be silent as well as loud. Silence could be as deadly a massive ion cannon, and swift as a landspeeder on open terrain.

Liz laughed and shook her head as they all sat down. “All right then... here it is.” She moved her data pads and her notebook to the floor beside her own chair, the rest now filled with their bodies, and smiled. “I am going to Drunkenwell to aid in the joining of them to the Republic. I know it is a dangerous place and I fear that anyone assigned to my protection while I am there will not be taken well. No one wants to babysit a Senate Representative. And most certainly not one who is barely an intern on her first assignment.” She watched hoping they wouldn't react badly.
“Yes, this is my first assignment. That is why I am taking it so seriously. I want to take a reporter because of two reasons,” here she propped her elbows on the table. Her right hand covered her left as she grasped each finger in turn as she made a point, “The first is because those with no courage and fear of standing up, will do so in front of a camera. Sometimes it is because they will be recognized, and other times it is because it gives them the confidence that those who would kick them down, can't now because of the recordings.” She grasped another finger, “Second, because those who wish to do harm, often times will reconsider. It's all well and good to take claim for something after it has happened. But to be seen doing it... recorded as your maliciousness occurs, most can't stomach that.” She smiled and winked to them as she tilted her chin slightly, “And three... to keep it rolling and show that the Republic isn't all bad....” Here she sat back and took her drink with her, sipping it as she grinned like some wild animal licking blood from its lips from a fresh kill, “After all, you guys wanna be seen as heroes.... right?” She laughed as she watched them in turn.
“I would also like to take a Jedi with me, if I can find one willing to tag along with an Intern. And also I want to find someone with Drunkenwell intel knowledge. Someone who knows the terrain, the inhabitants, and the best way to deal with both. That's why four bodyguards. Two with me and two with the Intel and reporter, should we have to split up.” She took another sip and waited for the barrage of questions she knew would be forthcoming.
