CHARITY BALL: RED CARPET
Evan
Just days after Evan announced his campaign for the now-vacant office of Prime Minister, Chief of State Channel decided to host an grand Charity Ball to help raise funds for the reconstruction of Telos IV after the Imperial Invasion just months ago. And just days before the Ball was to be held, it was announced that Evan Mathews would be the new Prime Minister of the New Republic. Everything was falling into place perfectly since his return to politics a few months ago. All part of the plan, he told himself as the limo speeder pulled up to the long line of speeders waiting
He looked to his left to find Alizabeth sitting next to him in the speeder. Perfect, he kept telling himself, his joyful smile screaming out the thoughts that he dared not say out loud. She looked absolutely gorgeous this evening, of course she looked gorgeous every evening. Evan sighed to himself, wondering if she even realized the true reason he had asked her to go with him to the ball.
The speeder came to a stop finally and the as the door opened and Evan looked over to Aliza. "You ready?" he asked, grinning a giant grin as he stepped out onto the glorious red carpet. He straightened out his tuxedo as photographers, journalists, and spectators alike began shouting his name, trying to get his attention. The shouting was in vain at the moment as Evan's attention turned from the flashing of holocams to the beautiful woman stepping out of the speeder behind him. This, unfortunately, led to the shouts getting louder and the questions like, "Who is she?" and "What's your name sweetheart?" were heard above the racket.
Evan left an opening for Aliza to slip her arm into his and waved to the crowd. He led her down the red carpet and into the wondrous Telosian Academy of the Arts, the roars of the reporters growing dimmer as they walked. He smiled to himself as he stole another glance at his date and knew that this would be a night that neither of them would ever forget.

Alizabeth
Liza smiled as he took her hand. She was nervous and he probably guessed it. No other interns she knew of were going as guests. She only hoped this wouldn't alienate her among her peers. They all had the same goals and desires in mind, to make a better Republic, after all.
As they paused and he stepped out of the speeder, the cameras started flashing. She was used to seeing him on the vids amongst such chaos, so she simply remained where she was a moment longer. Trouble was, she didn't realize the pause made for a grander appearance of her, rather than a less memorable one. As the cameras went off more in face and the questions came, she slid her arm into Evan's to steady herself. If he wished to speak her name, that was his choice. This was his night, not hers. When he stepped away for a solo photo, she found herself in the photography spotlight. She seemed awkward to herself, but apparently her appearance in the white gown she had chosen made up for her lack of experience in the limelight.
She took Evan's arm once he was finished and they headed inside. She knew tonight would be a night to remember. She just hoped she wouldn't embarrass him. As they crossed the threshold into the main hall, she whispered to him, “If you need to leave me to take care of mingling, please do. I do not wish to be a hindrance. Thank you again, Evan, for bringing me. I know it probably isn't easy for you.” She let the rest of the thought drift off as she took in the view of the grand affair before her.
