Kao Demascus
It had been easy enough to rise in her academics through Secondary Training. She loved learning. Drank it up like a Sith drinking the Force. But she hadn't any Force talent. It occasionally irked her that her twin brother, Darius, had had the skill and was heading that path. But for her, flying was her skill. Speeder, shuttle, even the small fighters on her home of Coruscant had bent to her will as if something more than her own touch was guiding it. When Darius left to seek out the path of his calling, he had encouraged her to join the Imperial Navy. To rise to the rank that would grant her a Star Destroyer to helm was her deepest wish. But it had to begin somewhere.
Stepping into the recruiting office was a bit daunting. She hadn't been to any official school to be a pilot. Her older brother Andrew was one and once let her fly the two-seater he had come home in for a visit. They had traveled out to a fairly clear section of the city and she was soon hooked. After that she had tried to grab the throttle of anything she could. Now, she wanted the real thing. She wanted true training. And here she hoped to get it.
"Kao Demascus for interview with Imperial Navy.” She told the person behind the desk in the slightly crowded holding room. She wondered who she would see beyond the doors that was currently in this room. Would any of them make it?
Would SHE make it?

“Alright Ms. Demascus.” The rather proper looking woman behind the desk pulled up her file, briefly browsing through the provided information. After several moments of silence, aside from the clicks of her fingers across the keyboard, the woman looked up to the woman across from her. “We have a high volume of interviews today..” A product of the official war, no doubt. “..however.” The woman leaned forward and to the side, looking past the woman.
“Across the street is a bar one of our Captain’s likes to frequent, and you’re in luck. I see his bike outside right now.” She glanced to the side, assuring she wasn’t going to get in trouble for what she was about to do. “Take your file and ask for Jericho, everyone knows him over there. Get him to sign off and bring the file back here and we’ll get you processed immediately.” It was unconventional, but so was the person she was sending her to.

Kao
Kao looked at the woman like she had suddenly sprouted a second head and begun speaking like a Wookie. “Excuse me? I am to go across to a bar and ask to be assigned to the Imperial Navy... am I understanding you right?” She shook her head in disbelief as the woman handed her her personnel folder. This had to be the oddest recruiting interview she had ever heard of... much less been part of.

About three minutes later, after straightening her attire and running a hand thru her hair, Kao stepped into the bar and looked around. Moving to the bar, she asked the bartender who Jericho was. When the tender asked if she wanted a drink, she ordered a local ale and as it was served and her credits swiped, the server nodded to the man halfway across the bar from her. She asked for another drink, this time one of what the Captain was drinking. As the server handed it over with a smile and added the credits up, Ka thought she heard a small laugh. It didn't matter. If this was how it had to be, so be it.
She tucked the file in back of her right boot, fixed her pant leg over it and took up the two drinks. Pausing for a moment to decide what to say, she watched the man to see if he was with others, what he was doing and try and decide an 'in' for the conversation. She would be interrupting him, after all. May as well make sure she knows the topic. Being a fool for a purpose was one thing... being a fool for ignorance was another.
She watched him and took a sip of her own drink.

Their was that feeling people got when they were being watched. Being midday, every time a new patron entered, you knew it. The light cascaded in through the haze of smoke that rose up towards the ceiling, briefly making it visible. Of course just because someone entered, didn’t mean he had to go and have a look. Two glasses sat side by side, a glass of ale, and a glass of whiskey. The drink the bartender poured for the girl, was a second of the ale.
He sat at his stool alone, alternating which drink he sipped from, his eyes tracing the ticker on the bottom of the holo display for the brief recounting of the news. He didn’t look for anything in particular, it just helped him keep updated, and it was something in constant flux for him to look at. Feeling the presence nearby though, he turned his head over towards the woman, cocking his head to the side. His eyes met the drinks, one in each hand, then her eyes again.
“That mine? Those bearing gifts are received well, have a seat.” Not one to turn down a free drink, he finished his first ale to make room for the second.

Kao
Kao smiled. As she came forward and set the drink down, she laughed. “With a greeting like that, I wonder what would have happened had I had a whiskey.” She nodded to the other drink and set the second beer beside it.
“My name is Kao Demascus. But I have to admit,” she laughed and nodded towards the door, “I have the secretary at the recruiting office to thank. She sent me to meet you.” She pulled her file from her boot. “I don't want to start on pretext so I will just say it.” She shrugged and set it on the table between them. “She said I should come see you about my petition to join the ranks.” She smiled again. Her eyes were dark colored to begin with, but the odd ambient and bar lightly made them shine occasionally like a cat's eyes caught in a beam of light. “So...,” she bit her lip and moment then took a long draw of her own ale and smiled. “Since this is one of the oddest interviews I ever heard of, might as well keep it interesting. May I ask what you are seeking in a recruit, Sir?” She raised a curious eyebrow and looked at him. She had kind of rushed out all of that in a breath or two and she hoped the next words out of his mouth weren't 'get lost'.

Jerico
He glanced at the whiskey, then back at her, presenting her with a nonchalant shrug. “The same thing.” And it was true. He was no slouch when it came to the drinks, and she was curious. When she explained her presence, he lofted a brow in his own surprise. “Really?” He gave pause for a few, before continuing his thought process. “You mean I don’t have to sit behind a desk to interview people?” The chances of them letting it be a repeat occurrence were small in reality. He was off duty, so what he did, they didn’t care about.
He glanced down at the file she presented him with next, pondering it a moment, and then her question. “Well this is a twist, thought I was supposed to ask the questions. I’ll play this game though.” He sipped from his new beer, than his whiskey. “What is the Imperial Navy looking for? People that are willing to get behind the controls of unshielded ships. What am I looking for? People that can fly and work as a unit.” Did she know he was a captain of the 181st? He wasn’t certain if this was a direct petition for a spot, or just to be admitted into the Starfighter Corps.
“Now it’s my turn, then it can be your turn again, then my turn…” He smirked, placing his hand atop the file, still kept closed. “What can you tell me, that these documents cannot?”
