Nisa set her bag on her bed and sighed. She shouldn't have been gone so long. She knew it had been unavoidable, but she hoped dearly it wasn't going to hurt her training. Sitting down she removed her traveling boots and finer clothes and changed into her practice gear.
A few minutes later, heading down the hall in bare feet, she smiled. She had come the opposite direction barefooted, in her nightgown, the first night she had arrived here. As she stepped through the doors into the dark night, she was reminded of that night. The scares, the rewards and the final knowing... knowing she had found a place she fit in, a place she belonged, a place to call 'home'.
Rounding the corner into the back garden, she went straight to the rose bush and smiled. It was just as it had been that first night... untended and wild.
Not unlike herself.
Pulling her hair back into a ponytail, she closed her eyes and began to concentrate. She drew on all her senses and tried to settle her mind so she could begin the lessons she had started before her untimely departure.
Opening her eyes she started stretching her body, now and then moving rocks, small branches and other loose objects scattered around the moonlit, half forgotten garden as she practiced doing multiple tasks at once.

Enjoying the relative peace of the garden that commanded the rear of the palace, Anana rested in a seated position, eyes closed as she reached out to those she once admired. Sifting through the Force to find them once again, she knew there was still a lot yet to be answered for; her life since leaving Belsavis so long ago not the one her ancestors had intended. The shadow of the young Saami girl now long gone and this tall, mature woman having taken her place. Innocence long lost in the halls of practitioners of evil and darkness, pressing their one bright spot to embrace their horrid rituals that in the end gained them nothing.
Sighing, she pushed out those feelings that only distracted her from the goal of this moment's effort, she opened herself instead to what was, buried deep within. That place that she had kept solitary, a refuge that no one had been able to penetrate allowing the simple daughter from humble beginnings to find her way out again.
As she began to make headway, another presence strolled into the dappled shadows of the garden and Anana instead found another in a similar state. Someone wishing to find what was lost. "Those things you're moving around are there for a reason," her quiet, accented voice cut through the moonlight, not wishing to judge in any way - only making an observation. "Nature has it's own way of taking care of itself without us, though it's interesting how often we feel the need to manicure it. Huh?"

She had felt a presence but berated herself for not realizing how close the other person truly was. She was startled a moment, but quickly recovered. The objects she was moving barely wavered, though a Master would see the faults. Opening her eyes to glance at the voice, she smiled. “It is true.. and I usually try to leave things back in their position to begin with. But in truth, some of the movement is for cleaning up.” She laughed softly and turned her body to more polite and fully see the woman. She was intrigued at the loveliness of her and swiftly shielded her thoughts. She didn't even know the woman's name... surely complimenting her was a bit lower on the necessity list.
“I am Niesara. I am ward to Lord Jasik and only just returning from an errand I could not avoid. As to the garden...” she glanced lovingly at the rose bush, “I kind of owe it some attention. Bit of a debt, if you will.” She laughed as she finished and turned back to the woman. “May I ask your name? I do not recall you being here when I left, though I admit I wasn't here long before that occurred.” Her bare toes dug absently in the dirt as her fingers relaxed, the debris she had been moving slowly lowering back into its resting places. Some pieces back where nature would have let it, others, true debris, stacked in the corner for disposal later. She relaxed a bit and tilted her head absently, making her look almost like a curious bird, as she tried to read the color of the Force lines around this new aquaintence.

Her own outlook on life and things was slowly beginning to return, a thought that made her happy as the female answered her. Dark brown eyes opened to peer through the darkness, the form of Niesara now being seen visually in the dappled moonlight. "Anana. I've only just arrived a few weeks ago; nice to meet you." Sitting crosslegged, she remained relaxed in the shadows of the large, ancient trees around them.
Owing the bush a debt was an interesting thought, she mused and grinned then realized she had probably seemed like part of the background when the other girl had arrived out here. Light and shadow was odd that way sometimes. "I met Lady Ayumi some time ago and she brought me here. Just had some things on my mind; this new life has made me re-evaluate things I've done before, so."
Now a bit glad for the distraction, she drew her knees up and wrapped her arms around both. "I've not met Sir Jasik, but there was a pink haired woman in the Cabaret looking for him a few days ago."

Nisa smiled. “I don't know any pink haired women, but I hope you meet Lord Jasik sometime. He is a good man.” She moved to the rose bush and absently pulled some dead leaves and a few dried twigs from it and laughed. “I know saying I owed the garden a debt seemed an odd thing to say. But my first lesson was learned here. That destruction for no purpose is not a good thing.” She laughed again and looked at the girl. “Believe it or not, I was sitting right there,” she pointed to the grass beside the bush, “and I used the Force to, well... destroy a rose bloom. I was attempting... something...,” she shook her head not elaborating, “Anyway, I decided that in payment for my wanton destruction, I would nurse the garden back to life as a place we can draw Force power from and practice in. Dead gardens aren't any use to us.” She smiled and sat down on the grass. “How are your lessons going? Have you been able to learn Force Pull yet?”
She knew she wasn't a teacher yet, but sometimes hearing how something was done, by another person, made it make more sense. Perhaps her out-of-the-box thinking may help others learn. It didn't hurt that in teaching others, you learned about them as well. Something else she learned from her mentors.

She grinned as her head canted to the right slightly. "Interesting, but there's always a reason for death, we just don't all agree on the circumstances." To hear herself say those words made her realize that she was healing after all. "Sorry, getting all philosophical here. Bad habit." Anana was sure it was too late in the night for that kind of talk.
"My training actually hasn't begun yet. I've been talking to two veterans and one of them had talked about taking me on, just hasn't started yet." The observation on the garden was a correct one, she mused. There was at least one other here that she knew would agree wholeheartedly. "Lady Ayumi and her master actually take care of this garden; they both make potions from some of the things that grow here. Interesting trade, I think."

Nisa came back to the blades of grass within her fingers. “A moment of weakness, I suppose.” She looked up and continued. “I was told my twin brother died in the vehicle wreck that killed my parents. It was that episode that made me realize I was adopted and wasn't a freak but skilled in the Force.” She laughed eerily. “I used to think the things that happened when I was mad were accidents. Turns out I was doing them all along.”
“Anyway,” she shrugged and continued, “I had a dream... he was alive. That I had been lied to. That he and I had been given to my adoptive parents not because of what our real parents sensed in us, but to stifle us and keep us from growing in those powers. I had to find him. I had to rescue him from...” she shook her head as if trying to remember, “... from something. I got back to the hospital and the nurse remembered me. She told me was really dead. That when my 'uncle' came, he had charged the body to be cremated and the ashes destroyed. She showed me the paperwork.”
She shook off the shiver that crept up her spine and straightened a bit. “Anyway, I know now he is really dead. I couldn't feel him anywhere. Not even in our old home or places we called ours. So I came back. I want to finish what I started. I want to master that which I have within me and become what I am to become.” She smiled ruefully as the wind blew her hair in her face and she absently brushed it aside. “And I have no where else to go. No one else will teach me to master these powers. So I will study, and learn, and listen and grow and someday I will know enough for both my brother and myself.”
The last few words sounded more like a half growled oath of vengeance. But it was quickly hidden as she looked at Anana. “Why did you come here?”

Her mind drifted as Niesara recounted her own backstory with her brother and she felt a twinge of sadness overcome her, but tried her best to push it back to those recesses of her mind. This wasn't the time for that, she mused and returned her gaze to the slight movements in light and shadow that was her companion for this evening's chat. "I also have nowhere else to go," she finally admitted it to herself.
Straightening a bit, "It's an interesting road that we've all walked to get here, isn't it? Just lets you know there's bigger things out there that help us make the right decisions to end up here at a place where we can explore our talents. My culture believes in spiritual guides, but personally I know theres more to it than that. I became an oracle for a secretive group, tried to help them guide their missions for a variety of purposes. Mostly to gain favor with one politician or rich benefactor or another. Seems they grew possessive, 'cause when Sarah and I tried to leave they hunted us down like animals. That's when I met Lady Ayumi." She sighed as her eyes fell, reminiscing on her close friend who was taken from her that fateful day and wished that Sarah could be here with her. "And here I am."

Nisa smiled. “Seems part of growing, is loss. I understand how that loss can be a driving force. It's what brought many of us here...loss I mean. We lose someone, the Force ripples from our grief, and those nearby feel it and rescue us.” She laughed slightly. “Odd, but I doubt one Dark Jedi arrived here because of a celebration or happy occurrence. I don't think the darker side of the Force operates like that.”
She raised an eyebrow and giggled at a sudden thought. “If grief brought us here, and it is within that grief and loss that anger and pain help us grow... does that mean the Students of the Light are always dancing around like fairies and celebrating life? Are they all recruited from fantastic events like bazaars and such?” She laughed again. She knew it wasn't true, but the fact that they were nearly polar opposites made her almost imagine such a thing.

Anana chuckled at the thought and though she had never met a jedi, it was a comedic vision that she entertained for a long moment. "I seriously doubt that, but makes you wonder doesn't it?" Her mood sobered again, "I know there are many facets to the Force just as there is so much variety in the galaxy. On a world," she motioned around them. "In a garden. I think jedi have their place just like the rest of us, though I may be proven wrong once I start training. Have you already started with Lord Invictus then, or are you waiting as well?" There were so many more members to this secretive society than she imagined.

“I have started, but I had only had a lesson or two before I left. So I am not sure if I will be forced to begin again, or continue in hopes I fail, thus proving I am not worthy.” She wasn't laughing. It was a thought she had lived with since returning. Would her Mentor make her begin again... or would he continue in hopes she either succeeded and proved she had kept her training exercises up while absent, or failed and proved she had no purpose or right to be here? Either way, she would need to find out sooner rather than later. Anana was right. Delaying would not be a good thing.
"I am no teacher. But I can tell you the best way to begin and prepare is to just try and feel the Force around you. You cannot manipulate what you cannot sense."

"Depending on how long you've been gone, he may wish to see what you've remembered." Though she was only guessing having never been part of a group that did such extensive training in this unique power that the universe had given them. "I would, if it were me and you're right, those who've never felt this power that emanates from the ground and all around us can't be explained with words, it has to be felt." Just like love, she mused.
"Where are you from originally then?" Seeing as they were both on the same level, it would be good to have someone that could relate to her growing pains in the Penumbra.

Nisa nodded. She was glad the girl was not completely ignorant of what was to come. “I am from Curoscant. I don't recall where I was born but I was in the Northern District Hospital when I was found. When a man came to me and explained what I was and gave me the option to come here, I took it. There is nothing for me there now. With Arbenies gone, my brother, this is home now.” She stretched and leaned back. “Where are you from? Any family left behind?”
She would linger a bit longer, then would seek out her old Master. It was time she began what she had started. Someday she would teach others. But she wasn't there yet... not even close.

"Belsavis. I was born and raised in a small village until I was eleven, then slavers took my brothers, cousins and I to Ord Sabaok. From there, once I graduated school, I've been roving with that group that I mentioned until a few weeks ago. I recently met one of my cousins who works for the New Republic and her three brothers are also still around, one of them is still living on Belsavis." She still had a trip to take back home, but that had been postponed recently as things in the galaxy were heating up with the Empire. No doubt Maggie would let her know when that vacation back home would be scheduled again.

Niesa smiled. She missed her family but everyone was gone. There wasn't even anyone to go see and visit someday when her training allowed for it again. It was just as well. Now there was nothing to distract her. “It is a good thing you had family looking out for you... not sure how they found me. Though I am glad they did.” She laughed softly. “I don't have anyone to go back to. Not anymore.” She shrugged like it didn't matter. “It's ok... now I can concentrate on my studies and not allow myself to worry about my brother or anyone else anymore.” She sounded like she was trying to convince herself, rather than make a simple statement.

A little bird called and told me where to find you. A quiet voice came from within the trees, and a tall figure stepped slowly out of the shadows. It had been a long while since he had been out and about on Ruusan. He had been ill for the better part of the last couple months and had only recently begun to feel better. A little fresh air, he supposed, wouldn't do him bad at all. And as luck would have it, he had chanced himself upon someone he knew; someone that hadn't been around for awhile, either. He smiled at her.
Niesara, it's wonderful to see you again. You probably don't remember me, but... I'm Dreks. He held out his hand, before noticing another girl, one that Niesa had been speaking to.
I don't think I've made your acquaintance. Dreks. After shaking (or not shaking) Niesa's hand, he offered his hand to the other girl as well.

Niesara's bold proclamation made Anana wonder if that was the truth, knowing from personal experience that her loss had continued to nag at her. Especially since she was at fault for two of them, herself and the very reason she was out here now. "I've learned that all those feelings that we've had will only help us during this training and I'm not sure how easy that will be for me, but I'm definitely going to give it a shot." After all, she had nowhere else to go, which had already been established by both of them.
As she pondered that point, another joined them in the dimly lit forest and garden that she hadn't met yet. Once he introduced himself, she logged in the name for future reference. "Anana, pleasure."

Nisa shook Drek's hand and nodded. “Of course I remember you. It is good to be welcomed home again.” She smiled and let him meet Anana. When they had exchanged names, Nisa looked to Dreks.
“I was just being reminded,” she nodded to the girl beside her and smiled, “that I should report to my Master and tell him I am back … sooner rather than later. Would you happen to know if Lord Talus, (Invictus) is available in the Keep? I should like to find him as soon as possible. I also need to let lord Revan and Lord Jasik know I have returned.” She laughed softly and glanced back at the Keep. “Though I have no doubt they know already.”

Likewise. She had the looks of one who was newer to the Penumbra; Anana appeared younger, though by no means naive. Have you been on Ruusan long?
Dreks turned to Niesa. Lord Talus... and Lord Jasik... I believe they are currently away. I assume Lord Revan is here still - I have not heard anything to the contrary - and I believe Lady Callista, if my sources are to be believed, has returned as well. He looked back, almost wistfully, towards the Chateau, behind the trees. Wind whistled quietly through the trees as it blew petals of dried flowers in the air, scattering around them. Dreks picked one up, looked at it thoughtfully, before tossing it to the ground.
Nisa, I hope I'm not to forward by asking if you would share where you had gone? His words, always diplomatic as he had learnt on Naboo, were directed towards the lady he had brought here, all those months ago.

She listened to the names thrown around and knew she hadn't met any of them yet either, then turned her attention back to Dreks. "Only a week or so. Long enough to get involved in a few things, but still haven't been to the city yet." Another female's name was revealed and the doubt in his mind made her wonder what that story would indulge. No doubt some sordid events revolving around that one.
His query to Nisa also had her interested, though she wasn't bold enough to ask seeing as they had just met. Dark brown eyes turned to the female again as she listened.

The half smile on Nisa's face fell for a moment. “Ask me another time, Dreks... please.” Though she tried to smile again, the final word had been more than a plea. It wasn't because of the company. Dreks knew her well enough to support her, she hoped. And Anana didn't know her well enough to judge either way. She just didn't think she could explain without either breaking down in tears or letting her rage at her weakness get the better of her. “I am sorry... I just really need to wrap my head around the stupidity of it, I guess.” She forced the smile and turned the tide back to Anana.
“No worries there. I am sure you will be given plenty of time to do the things you want as well as study. Just remember a lot of Mentors and Teachers here are strict. Be sure to ask before heading out anyplace without them.” She laughed remembering a student who had been told they couldn't leave the grounds till their first promotion. She didn't recall ever being told that. But she hadn't asked.
Now it seemed the 'better to beg forgiveness than ask permission' statement was going to hold true for her.

OOC: Meep! Sorry 'bout the wait.
IC:
My apologies, Nisa. He had stepped over a boundary - though, by the sounds of it, Nisa wasn't ready to share it with either him or Anana. He understood the emotions connected to Nisa's unwillingness to share where he had gone; if he had been in her place, he would have said the same. Dreks had never been very open to others, regardless if he had known them for a long time or even just a few minutes.
Yes, most of the leaders, mentors, and teachers will not mind your exploring the city - some may even encourage it. You will have to devote much time to your studies - unfortunately, I have been unable to do so - but you will still have time to pursue your interest. Might I ask, Anana, what you would wish to do in the Penumbra? Dreks turned towards the younger woman.

Having some insights to those who taught and had become their overseers, she mused on the visions of who she may be training under soon and hoped they had patience. Seeing Olmondo was definitely on the list, she just had to make the time really. Brown eyes turned to Dreks, a movement unseen in the moonlight and shadow around them. "I'm an oracle, something I think I inherited from my mother. Dreams and visions of things come to me sometimes of possible future events, though they seem to come when they want to and not when I choose. Not sure if this training will help with that or not, but time will tell. It would be nice to be able to see important events that could possibly help us change them beforehand." She wasn't sure if anyone else had ever done that in this group or not, but she would be a bit surprised if not.
Looking between them to note their reactions for a moment, "The last group I was a part of only used it to make money and even though I was never ill treated, I could never leave on my own either. That prison became too much to bare, so a friend of mine and I escaped one night. I have a feeling that this organization is totally different from them," she shrugged. "I hope so at least."

I mean, sure, sometimes things may seem strict and regimented, depending who your teacher is, but I am sure it's meant as a way to train you for discipline.” She raised her eyebrow teasingly at Dreks. “I mean you guys aren't all slave drivers, are you?”
She knew she was teasing, and hoped the others would sense it as well. She loved her time here and realized that short of being told to leave, now... she wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Nisa laughed. “I wouldn't call this a prison, Anana.
