Llewel walked into the recruiting offices and sighed. She wasn't a newbie that needed an interview, it was true. But she had been gone a while after her very first assignment and now needed to know how to come back.
She slid her duffle stuffed with uniforms and gear under a chair in the corner and approached the desk. "Excuse me... My name is Llewel Pindragin." She handed her military id to the receptionist. "I have been gone a long time and am not sure how to proceed in making my return known."
Her hair, usually disheveled from hats and helmets and just plain exertion was neatly plaited and coiled regulation style at the base of her neck. Her uniform, while not dress, was definitely much neater than most she saw wandering the halls.
"I can wait, I mean... since I know I am not expected. I was last on a ship, so was never assigned a berth or command. So..." She shrugged and tried to laugh. "It isn't like I have a place to rush off to, anyway."
She hoped she didn't sound desperate, despite the fact she felt it. When she had arrived the first time, she was driven, knew her mind, knew her desire, and had all the want in the world.
This time, she felt lost like she should have the first time... and she only knew that this was the only place she could call home anymore.
... If they would have her again.

Standing at the end of the long counter to the duty officer's post, Madeleia filed the last recruit's file into the system and glanced up as the colonel listened in on the brunette's story. Her interest piqued now, she straightened. "You go AWOL or what," Madeleia queried in her usual tone, wondering as she gazed at the supposed soldier what had happened.
Glancing between the newly arrived and the army's chief, the veteran sergeant seated behind the counter also wanted to know now, his face revealing that much.
Moving around the polished surface, brown eyes took in the look of the female and recalled having looked like that after a long weekend of partying. Not that long ago, in fact.

AWOL....
The very thought of the word rankled her skin. "NO!" Was her unthought of vehement bark of a a response. "I would never go AWOL, much less come crawling back if I had. I was given leave to see to a family... matter..."
It was here her outer exterior may have remained stoic, but her eyes and her inner resolve crumbled. She lowered her voice and shook her head as if not believing she had exploded. "I am sorry. No, Ma'am... I was not AWOL. I had to see to a ... to something and Mr. Leonida was kind enough to give me absence."
She found her hands on the counter now fidgeting as she looked down. Growling slightly to herself, she pulled her hands from the counter, brushed invisible lint from her uniform and regained her composure. This wasn't the time or place to snivel. She refused to let this part of her life break her. Pushing it all into the back of her mind and walling it up so solidly a Jedi would be proud, she looked back at them.
"I would like to return to duty and continue being the asset I set out to be." She hoped no one would dig deeper. At least not yet...
... she wasn't ready.

"If that's true, you wouldn't have to be here, just report back to your unit," she informed, though wondered now how long this woman had been in the army in the first place. "How long you been gone?" There was obviously more to this story and Madeleia now had to get to the bottom of it seeing as the army was her responsibility. She knew that many had lost family in the war with the Empire and most got scared for their own back home, sometimes no doubt wanting to run back and protect them if their homeworld happened to be in Imperial crosshairs.
Not a situation that the ex-smuggler had known beyond her brother who was here now. But, he was smart and resourceful enough to take care of himself should anything happen.

She was afraid that was going to be the answer. "Forgive me, Ma'am. My first assignment was assistant to Mr. Leonida aboard the Akatsuki. I was given shuttle home to see to a raid there and support the evacuation process as I knew the terrain. But I was separated from the unit and left behind. I came back to find my credentials declined at the hanger and was prompted to come here to seek location for my reporting and where I was to bunk." It was more embarrassment than anger that fueled her ramble, but details hadn't been solicited so she kept her back straight and eyes steady as she awaited her new fate.
She refused to fidget or back down. This had been her desire from the beginning and even if she was starting over, she wouldn't let something as simple as an interview and dressing down keep her from her goal. She wanted to serve, and unless they blatantly sent her away for all eternity, she would serve!

Once being filled in on the supposed fate of the recruit, Madeleia pulled out her datapad and typed her password into the DataCore, then searched for the Akatsuki and it's apparent fate, then accessed files pertaining to Llewel. Taking several long minutes, she eased her demeanor as the girl stood there quietly. Nodding, the colonel's gaze rose once again. "I'll send a note to your unit CO and get you situated. Welcome home," she grinned.

"Thank you, Ma'am. It is good to be home again." She nodded and smiled popping a quick salute. She knew it was wrong inside without her cover, but it was necessary. Thank you hardly seemed enough to covey how very grateful she was.
"Should I head to the barracks to await orders, Ma'am?" It dawned on her that she had no bed when she left, so no bed to return to, even if it had been saved for her all these months. They thought her AWOL or worse... she doubted anyone would even recall her short time here previously. But that was acceptable as well. Gave her a clean slate to make a name for herself.

Returning the salute, Madeleia grinned, "The first sergeant at your HQ will get you situated, they're expecting you, so." She now tried to imagine all that the recruit had been through on the run for survival and with so little time under her belt. As other recruits were escorted to the individual cubicles for their interviews, she knew that Llewel had at least already gotten through that stage.
Now to just get her back into circulation and trained before she real action against the Empire.

"Thank you, again, Ma'am. Hope to see you again soon under better circumstances." She turned and grabbed her bag from under the corner chair and high tailed it to the barracks. Now to get down to the dirty stuff. She knew she had been given a great chance at the beginning, an amazing opportunity. But life had stolen that from her... perhaps there was a reason. She just hoped the next steps she took in her career wouldn't be backwards.
She put her cap on and headed outside to make her way to her destiny.
