01-19-2016, 11:18 PM Tal Only a few for feet.... -It was that simple... Step-by-step... Slowly they were inching towards the lift. Time nearly slowed down just as the voices became louder. His head turned as far as it would go; yellow eyes trying to pick up on the two men who just entered into the hall. Did they see them? Silence grew ever-so quickly. His heart beat along with his breath seem to quicken for a fraction of a second. The need to pause in their step was nearly there for the two of them. But it seemed in record time; these two men turned away and continued on down the hallway. At that moment Tal's breath went back to normal and his heart beat slowed down. Yellow eyes moved back over to Liz; who still had his arm over her shoulder. Relief was now upon them... they were actually going to escape from this nightmare.- "We're safe." -His words calm and soothing.- -Or at least that's what he thought.- -He had spoken a little to soon in that matter. Approaching the lift that would take them to safety; there was a pause in the blond mandalorian's step. Something did not feel right to him. An odd pressure that he hadn't felt before. Taking in a single breath of air... he focused. Mind completely calm -- almost like that of a jedi -- and in control. Then it came a crash right behind them. Glass shattered to the floor and around the bodies that were covered in blood. This sensation was dark almost like an assassin feel to it. Who was this?- -Almost instantly; Tal felt his arm leave Liz's shoulder. Standing firm on his two feet the blond mandalorian spun on his heals lifting his prosthetic arm up. His hand formed into a tight fist activating the hidden blade within his arm. It shot out several inches past his knuckles and clanged together with another bladed weapon; sparks flying outward. It was an angled beskad. The blade itself had seen combat before and had several markings and bloodstains upon it. The wielder -- to Tal's surprise -- was in mandalorian armor. It was a dark black color with orange in it; even the t-visor was orange. Overall, the appearance spoke assassin. Was this true? Sliding back next to Liz; Tal held the blade off as best as he could. His quick reflexes had nearly saved their lives, but at what cost? The mandalorian in armor backed away slowly still holding firmly onto the beskad.- "You okay, Liz?" -Tal finally questioned; his yellow eyes scanning back over to her.- ((ooc- What the mandalorian looks like.)) His words had calmed her a bit but then everything seemed to stop and move in slow motion.
Tal became still as a statue and as she looked up to ask him what was wrong, a crash like a floor collapsing behind them made her jump. Suddenly, Tal shoved her behind him as he spun and she heard steel meet steel in a loud clang that rang her ears.
Training from Drunkenwell kicked in and her left hand went up to rest on the flesh side of Tal's shoulder. "Always let me know where you are behind me." He had taught her. That if they were ever in a fight situation, she was to stay behind him, watch his back, guide him if they had to move and with her hand on his shoulder, he would know she was there without worrying about constantly turning around.
As he backed away from the man before them, she got close enough to the lift to reach inside and hit the HOLD button. They may still need a quick escape.
"You okay, Liz?" he glanced back at her checking. Liz nodded and smiled. "I am fine." She then nodded back to the other man. He had more pressing matters than her to worry about. Glancing to her right and down the hall, she counted the seconds hoping the men she had seen go in the room not too far away, would not come back out. She doubted they could fight on both fronts. Her hand nervously rolled the dermal blade in her hand ready to wield it if need be.

-Tal's eyes were completely focused on the armored warrior. It was difficult enough to figure out whether a person wearing mandalorian armor was truly mandalorian or some bounty hunter who stole the armor. This kind of armor was unique in design. Each mando'ad had a unique flare when it came to forging armor. Tal had constructed his and reconstructed it at least twice overall. However, what this warrior was wearing held enough back story to it. Kote could very well tell by the amount of battle damage that was placed upon it.-
-It only seemed like silence was eternal between them two. However, deep down Kote was counting the seconds. From the time the two men disappeared around the corner to when this armored warrior appeared before them. It was only a matter of time before the men came back. The endless stare of the t-shaped visor of the mandalorian helmet held no emotion. It was literally hard to tell what a person was thinking beneath the helmet of a mandalorian. One couldn't predict movements or read their thoughts. Which also worried Tal to a degree. He wasn't even in beskar'gam, and this warrior could easily predict his movements if he wanted to. In almost a fraction of a second the armored warrior swung forward again with the beskad in his hand. The blade hummed through the air aiming straight for Tal's left shoulder... the same shoulder that Liz was holding onto. At that moment; Kote took a gradual step back with his left foot angling his body on slightly. His right shoulder only slightly forward; with his left less exposed. From there his right arm lifted up blocking the strike. The same noise of metal hitting metal echoed through this small area sending off a small array of sparks. While Tal held his ground -- as best as he could -- the armored warrior pushed forward in attempts to throw him off.-
-But after a while; he ceased and backed away from Tal and Liz. His blade still firmly grasped in his left hand.- "Even in your weakened state you can still fight, Mandalore Tal." -The warrior's voice wasn't hard to distinguish. Even Kote himself could hear his ascent beneath that helmet.-
"I'm not Mandalore," -Tal responded calmly keeping a defensive position.- "I've devoted myself...."
"Oh that's right you are with the New Republic. What do they call you there...?" -His step came a little closer.- "Ah that's right High General. The man who leads the military for the New Republic. You are pretty much Mandalore there, but only leading a rebellion against the Galactic Empire. I'd say you are more of a traitor to Mandalore himself.... a dar'manda."
"No..." -Tal lowered his head at this thought. At that point; footsteps could be heard from a distance. Looking up the blond glanced over seeing the men from before approaching with blasters raised. At that moment the armored warrior charged forward attacking Tal. Holding off as best as he could he pushed him away and motioned for Liz to get into the lift with him shortly behind.- "Shut the doors!" -Tal moved over sliding himself into the lift shortly after Liz.-

Liz bit her lip biting back a cry as the warrior hit Tal. Several in succession that drove them back, ever closer to the lift. Each ring of metal on metal set Liz's teeth on edge. Had he been all flesh and blood, they wouldn't still be standing there. But then again, had he been all flesh and blood, they wouldn't have been in the hospital in the first place.
The man's moves and attacks But what really got her attention was the man's words to Tal.
*High General... Leader of the Republic Military...?*She shook her head. Surely this man was mistaken.
But he knew Tal's name... that he was Madalorian. Liz found her brow furrowing in confusion. Shaking her head she chased it from her mind. It made no difference to her, but their relationship? She would worry about it later.
When she heard Tal's voice break and his head sink, she moved a touch closer and squeezed his shoulder. She didn't care what the man said, "Tal... you aren't a daramanda... or whatever he said. Not if it's something bad." She spoke to him, her eyes locking with the warrior before she finished her thought. "You aren't a bad person, Tal... if you were, I wouldn't care about you."
As her hand rested on the lift door frame, to keep them both from stumbling, she noticed Tal look down the hall. The men were armed and heading towards them. As Tal told her to shut the door, she took the final step back and slammed her hand on the CLOSE button. Tal stepped back just as the doors closed. The sound of steep hitting the door let her know how close the enemy had been as it happened.
As the lift began its swift decent, Liz turned to look at Tal, making sure he wasn't hurt. Coming around to step in front of him, she tried to look him in the eyes. "Are you ok? Tal... are you hurt?" Her hand lifted and gently rested on his chest. She wanted to feel his heart beat. She needed to know he was all right. Silvery blue eyes looked at his face hoping he would look back.

-With that brief step back; Kote watched as the warrior moved forward for another strike on him. Luckily, the doors had closed just in time followed by a loud thud. Exhaling a deep breath of air; Tal felt a little more relieved then ever. From the time that the attack occurred to now his adrenaline seemed to be pumping at an alarming rate. Now everything seemed to settle; he could finally relax. And nearly failed to realize that he wasn't using Liz as a support anymore. Yes, he had done it again by playing "hero".-
-Turning around; the blond mandalorian leaned up against the wall of the turbo-lift. His body a little more relaxed now. Everything seemed to be slowly coming back to him... even the surgery he had weeks prior. Sitting there he looked up for a moment at the ceiling. As soon as Liz's hand pressed up against his chest; focus had finally returned. Yellow eyes looked down at her seeing the worried look on her face. Was he fine? Were they really safe? At this rate almost anything could happen.-
"I'm fine Liz," -He responded calmly.- "I just need to rest..." -In that moment Tal felt his body slide down to the floor; it felt like his body was back to it's weakened state from the surgery. He had done so much to ensure Liz's safety that he nearly forgot that he had surgery upon his back. Looking up at her he finally smiled.- "Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?"

Liz saw his face as he leaned on the wall. Just as she had been about to ask if he had been hurt, his body slid towards the floor. "WHOA! Easy, Tal... I gotcha..." She wrapped her arms around him to help ease him down a little slower. Her legs buckled under the weight she hadn't anticipated and she went to her knees at his side. After biting back a small yelp as her knee slammed into the plassteel decking, she then bit back a laugh. "Some hero I am."
"I'm fine Liz," -He responded calmly.- "I just need to rest..."
Alizabeth nodded slowly and glanced at the lift. As they hit the basement, she reached over and slammed her hand on the STOP button to lock the lift in place. No one would be able to call it to a higher floor, or be able to open the doors. It may be locking them in a tomb, giving whoever was out there a chance to reach them, but she would take that chance rather than risk Tal to moving right now.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?" His words rang in her ears and brought her back to the moment.
"Yes, hun... yes, Tal. I am ok. No I am not hurt." She shifted to kneel and unfastened the buckles on her heels to remove them. She barely help him settle to the floor, if she needed to truly support him anymore, she needed to balance for both their sake.
"We need to figure out what to do next. Who was that guy, Tal? You seemed to recognize one another... what did he call you... dar'manda? What is that that upset you so much?" She remembered nearly everything. In moments of stress more than other times. She knew she had the pronunciation down perfect, but that didn't give her a definition.
She began thinking as she watched him. She needed to assess the situation and figure out what they could do that would give them the best chance at survival and discovering the reason for this mess in the first place.

-Taking a moment to digest what had happened; Tal tried his best to become more relaxed. It never really crossed his mind that another mandalorian would be after him. This warrior seemed to know him somehow, too. This seemed to raise some questions for the High General. Who the warrior in black and orange armor was? And what exactly did he want? Yellow eyes glanced down at his right hand that remained motionless in his lap. Kote nearly forgot that Liz had eased him to the ground after they had entered into the turbolift. Lifting his right arm up; he moved it around easily and then set it back down.-
"I'm not sure who he is; I've never met him before." -Tal responded answering the first part of Liz's question.- "And yet somehow he knew who I was...?"
How exactly does he know me?
-His focus came back in on her next question. The word dar'manda... it held a strong meaning for the mandalorian culture. Houses, clans, and even lone warrior's all knew of this word. Dar'manda. Feeling that he would have to explain; Kote glanced over to Liz.- "Dar'manda is a mandalorian term for 'no longer mandalorian'; it pretty much describes any mandalorian warrior as a traitor to Mandalore himself. If someone is given the name of dar'manda; then it means they've been branded a traitor by either Mandalore himself or the clan's that he or she represents. The only reason why he would call me dar'manda is because of the rough history my clan has had." -How much more could he truly explain this.-

Liz watched him move his prosthetic arm but couldn't bring herself to recognize the significance. Everything was beginning to blur.
When he began speaking, she listened to him and realized she was clouding. Shaking her head, she focused and he was sharp and clear once more when she heard him say the definition of the word meant betrayer and traitor. "Tal, you aren't a traitor. I don't know what your Clan has been through. You can tell me later if you want." Her hand reached up to touch his cheek. Turning his head slightly towards her to look into his eyes, her thumb brushed his cheek lightly as she smiled. "You are not a traitor, Tal Kote. I know you. Remember that, if nothing else." It occured to her then that the other man, the other Mandelorian, she assumed from Tal's speaking, had referred to him as the leader of the military... the High General. She shook the thought from her mind once more. Later, *Liz... figure it out later...* she whispered to herself.
She let his chin go and slowly looked away, letting her hand drop to rest reassuringly on his chest as she looked at the door. Straining to try and hear something, and hearing only silence, she looked back at him. He was so worn, so tired. He should be in bed but he was protecting her... again.
"Tal... we need to go. I can try and get to the hover and go for help. But I need to know you will be ok here." She bit her lip hating herself as she finished what she knew she should say. "Or are you ok to get up and come with me? I have a vehicle only seven spaces from the elevator. I know we can make it." Her hand still rested on his chest. The reassurance of his heartbeat kept her grounded and focused.

Traitor.... no; I am not a dar'manda.
"You are right, Liz." -His words were still calm.- "I am not a traitor."
-Kote's eyes lowered down to her's; an easy warm feeling seemed to wash over the entire lift they sat in. He nearly forgot that they were still in danger. After moments of thinking the situation through once more; Tal's eyes looked up. They needed to leave together... not separate. It was to dangerous to venture out alone. A hospital was supposed to be a safe place, and here they were running for their lives. Resting and recuperating. Sure enough it wasn't on the list.-
"No, we are leaving together." -He wasn't about to wait anymore.- "I can walk; I can move. We can leave together, okay?" -Again his eyes fell upon her; assuring that he was in fact okay to leave. If not then he would be staying here while she went and got help.-

Liz nodded. He would kill himself rushing to her rescue if he stayed behind. Better for him to go with her so they were together.
"Together then." She smiled and stood up. "Can you get up all right, yet?" She knew they would need to rush, and she tucked the small blade in her pocket, keyed off, but on standby if she needed to use it quickly. She was glad the speeder she had was key coded because it just dawned on her that her handbag was still up in Tal's room. She bit back a giggle wondering how many other women in situations like this would rush back for it.
As she braced herself to help him up, she kept her eyes on his so he would focus on her. "Ok, nice and easy... I can't support your whole weight, hun, but I can help." She hated to admit her weakness, but she also know he preferred the truth. Her ankle hurt from the fall but she was ignoring it knowing this was far more important. She braced herself to help him up. Once there. He could hit the button and they would head out into the garage... and hopefully freedom.

-The blond mandalorian smiled at LIz; he felt a little more at ease now. Well knowing that she would remain safe. Even he knew that he wasn't at a 100%. Overall, he was sort of a fool for thinking he could fight this way. But despite the surgery and everything else happening; Kote was going to move and going to protect Liz. Whether she liked it or not. Taking in a moderate breath of air; he slowly inched himself up into a standing position. Of course he was using Liz as support to help him stand. His legs shook only slightly; as this seemed like the 'first' time he would be standing... again. However, as soon as he was in an upright position everything seemed to feel better now. His body wasn't stressed and it seemed like he wasn't in anymore pain. Yellow eyes looked over to Liz.-
"I'm good. I can walk." -He said calmly; holding his hand out slightly. A clear sign that he could support himself on his own. Correcting his posture once more; he turned towards the entrance.- "Are you ready for this?"

Liz watched him rise and bit her lip. Pressing loose strands of hair behind her ear, she helped steady him till he said he was ready.
Nodding, she pushed the button and the lift doors opened. Swallowing and clenching her fists a moment to gather her courage, Liz took a step forward and slowly glanced around to see if anyone was out there. When she didn't see anyone, she took a deep breath and stepped out into the garage. She could see her transport, just a few space away.
Turning back to Tal, about three steps outside the lift, she nodded to him. "It's clear... we should hurry." She was so fixated on him, she forgot to keep track of her surroundings.

"Indeed we should," -Tal responded calmly.-
-Yellow eyes glanced around the parking structure while they exited the lift. Though they were so close to being home-free; he still worried. They weren't done just yet? At least that is what he hopped. There was no way that the mandalorian from earlier was finished with them. Moving slowly towards Liz's transport; the blond mandalorian heard another noise to his right. His step paused for a brief moment and turned over to his right. Nothing but a few vehicles parked. With a brief exhale; he moved back over to Liz who continued towards the transport. Then it hit him.... well sort of.-
-Another noise! This one was louder as it seemed to echo through the entire complex they stood in. For a moment the blond mandalorian turned on his heals only to see nothing. Facing forward once more; Kote was met face to face with a strong kick in his chest. Yes; it was strong enough to send him straight back into a parked vehicle. Not only did the alarm sound off, but it also left a body-size dent in it. Yellow eyes lifted up slightly to sight of the black and orange mandalorian before. His stance was firm with the beskad blade in his left hand. Now the only difference was that he was blocking Kote from getting to Liz. Slowly, Tal grunted pushing himself off of the vehicle back into a standing position.-
"You really thought you could get away from me, Tal?" -His voice still masked by the helmet.. echoed.-
"Well this seemed a little to easy for my tastes, but yes...." -Tal's voice cackled a little. Yellow eyes focused over to where Liz was standing. He offered her a smile and motioned to start her transport up while he took care of this warrior.- "I must know.. who are you?"
"My name is none of your concern, Tal. All you need to know is I'll be ending your life." -He lifted the blade up slowly. It shown brightly in what light they actually had. All the battle scars and blood stains. Yes it was an honorable weapon. But this also worried Tal to a point... would he die by this warrior's blade?-

Liz cried out as she turned to see Tal slam into another speeder. She stopped short seeing the armoured man before them once more. "TAL!" She took a step forward but his nod towards her vehicle made her bite her lip and nod back.
As the two exchanged words, Liz started the vehicle and slammed hard into reverse. Maybe she could catch the man off guard and knock him from behind to give Tal a chance to get in. "Lords and Ladies help me." She whispered as her hand dropped the handle into reverse and her vehicle sped hard towards the enemy's back.

-About the same time; the beskad had swung down connecting with the prosthetic appendage that was Tal's arm. A loud clanging sound echoed through the entire complex. It sounded almost like a swoop race was about to begin on Telos. All the blond mandalorian could really do was hold off the attack. He wasn't completely healed from his surgery. Struggling against the raw strength that this warrior had; Kote pushed his arm up enough to keep the blade away from him. About the same time; a loud noise echoed once more. This time it was a speeder... Liz's speeder to be exact. Yellow eyes glanced over to see the speeder heading in his direction. Full reverse! Eyes nearly wide at the sight of what Liz was doing. Pushing forward; Kote reached out grabbing part of the hilt of the beskad. Lifting his left leg up; he landed in a hard enough kick to send the mandalorian back a few paces. While at the same time the speeder rammed right into him. Almost instantly, he lost both his footing and the bladed weapon he was using.-
"You should definitely watch your back, vod." -Tal chuckled for a brief moment. Turning towards Liz; he ran over picking up the warrior's beskad and hopped into the passanger seat right next to her.- "Let's get out of here."
