ON THE CHASE (pt 5)
Nik looked at his team waiting for other options they could possibly provide.
Troy sighed hard and did not say a word this was beyond him.
"I swore an oath to Starfleet. If going down there means protecting DS9 and the Federation, it's my duty to go." Meni replied. "As much as I'd like to say yes, just blow them out of the sky, it might be good to know who we are up against and what they want."
Her auburn hair was pulled back in a coiled knot at the base of her neck, just off her uniform collar. The Ensign pips looking slightly dull from wear were neatly placed and the material around her was smooth like it was straight from pressing.
Sapphire blue eyes gazed around the room searching out the Commander. Xandra was quiet, not commenting on the controlled chaos she had stepped into. She had expected to check in with her new Commanding Officer. What she 'hadn't' expected was to see so many others there as well.
"Excuse, Commander, I forgot to mention that we took on another officer on our way to the Gamma Quadrant. This is Ensign Alexandra Prescott, we didn't have time to pick her up but her shuttle reached our ship just before we jumped here." Jensen said as she tried to ease the tension in the room.
"Welcome, Ensign. I am sorry you had to witness such broken down discipline, I swear its usually not like this. Also dont salute, im not big into it and if you do it at the wrong time, it makes me a target." Nik said as he felt himself regaining himself a bit.
"So Ensign, what do you suggest we do? We have some time before that those torpedoes hit us and we potentially lose power." Nik said asking the Ensign what she thought.
Alex nodded to everyone as the introduction was made. Her gaze at Nik, while not rude, was serious. "I know better than to salute, Sir. I may have Ensign bars but I assure you, after over ten years in the field, I am not a wet Cadet."
The challenge of 'what shall we do' was not a new one to Xandra. She glanced at the group before answering. "Since we have time to debate, my suggestion is to plot a solution and fire at the torpedoes to detonate them prior to them arriving. Though evasive maneuvers might be in order as well." She clasped her hands before her and wondered why they would ask her what they should do. Perhaps it was merely to see if she could think on her feet in an unknown situation. Whatever the reason, her answer was out there now.
Troy walked back into the command deck and kept quiet as he listened to all the things being said he did not add any input to this discussion.
Del ran a hand through his short cropped platinum hair as he thought. "Why not just move out of the way and if they follow, blow them up. Where did you say they came from?" He asked as he shook his head. "I hate the cryo sickness effects. My minds to scattered still but im good to fight Nik." He looked at Nik with a nod and a hardened warriors face.
Shaye, like Troy, stood mute as she also tried to make the effects of the cryo sickness of two hundred thousand years. Everything was so different a light trembling began in her hands stealing her focus making her grateful that there were sounded minds available for decision making. Then an idea tumbled out of her mouth unwittingly. "We could send out a carrier signal and reverse it back to those attacking us." She suggested knowing that Sparks or some AI could program such a wave in moments to be deployed should Nik approve it.
"Storm is it possible, to send such a carrier wave?" Jensen asked.
"Affirmative. We have eight minutes to determine our actions, also I am unable to perform a second emergency jump. Also, the Vaaduar, used there subspace corridors to reach our sector of space, also Del, our main objective is not to blow up everything we do not understand. I also performed such an action to arrive here, another may damage my key systems beyond normal repairs of the nanites. So im stuck here to take the torpedo damage." Storm replied as his systems were still recharging which is going to take twice as long now after such a jump.
"Storm are there any measures on that station to prevent a transport?" Nik asked Storm.
"Negative, outside of the shield surrounding it." Storm replied simply.
"Send the carrier wave, also a fighter screen armed with quantum torpedoes, could be fired in close proximity to the station to provide a diversion and possibly an opening for us to beam aboard the station unnoticed. Should buy us a few minutes, then Storm can remote pilot our ship back to its bay onboard. If all goes well, we'll be able to take down the shields and send addition men to help secure it. Then access the computer system to find out what is going on and why they attacked us." Nik said as everyone nodded understanding there part.
"Sorry guys, that station is too valuable to not atleast try to take. Lets get going and pray to whatever gods we worship someones listening." Nik said leaving the command bridge.
**I think its done, I can start the new post now if you want?**
**"Its fine with me." Troy** (you can pull the odd bs after all have staged the all clear**
