-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sept 10, 2007
Immediately leaving the building Kojiro unsheathed his katana and headed toward the most expensive tailor he could find, he cut himself an entrance to the store in plain site and tool the most expensive three piece suit, shirt and ite he could find. He proceeded to exit the store before heading back toward his hotel room. Mind you he looked QUITE suspcious during this time, nobody dared to stop him, wether it was the katana in his hand or the look in his eye, his little heist went off without a hitch. Kojiro woke up about 11 the next morning. Seeing as how he didn't have to check out until 1:30, he showered and then packed his newly "purchased" outfit in a small black sports bag and exited the hotel, he had to make a few more pit stops before he showed up to Elizabeth's office, all of which included a jeweler andweapons shop. His little "shopping spree" didn't end until 3, at which time he decided to purchase a room at a different hotel, his odd return to his room last night probably rose some eyebrows. He would wait here until about 5 then make his way to the rendevous.
Beth leaned back in her chair as Kojiro left. He had landed in her lap. She laughed and rose moving back to the couch to retrieve her earpiece from where it had been pressed between the cushions, forgotten at the time, when he had been there. She slid it back over her ear and tapped it. As the voice prompt menu came up she spoke clearly, "Call John". Sitting back at her desk as the call connected, she shut off the cameras to the lobby. Things there were back in order and there was no sign of anything bad happening there. Even the guards had been replaced.
"Hello" The sleepy voice responded. "I have him." She smiled as she listened to the fact she had woken him up. "Talk to you later." "Wait... how..."
She hung up before he could finish. As she slid the earpiece off and tapped a button to turn the lights back off once more, she rose again and grabbed her drink from the coffee table. Heading into the elevator, she stuck her key in and smiled as the back wall sliid open revealing a back entrance, seamless and invisible when in place. Stepping out of the back of the elevator into her private chambers, she kicked off her shoes and headed to the shower. Once done and in bed naked between the satin sheets, she fell asleep with the rest of the drink in her stomach and the empty glass on the nightstand. She dreamt of Kojiro and how he would take her if he really wanted it. Brutal to most in her vision, it was intoxicting and she awoke the next morning as invigorated as if it had occured. She spent the day checking the offices, the labs, and being in conferences. As the day wore on, Andrea delivered her special order dress and Beth gave her the evening off. The woman had been thru a lot the night before and deserved to not be here when Kojiro arrived. Besides, they didn't have to be at the party till 8, and being fashionably late was acceptable. She just didn't want Andrea here if she and 'Marcus' decided to rekindle old flames. The laugh filled her throat. She went back to her paperwork till she needed to dress for the party.
Kojiro dressed up in the black three piece suit and tie and headed toward the hotels lobby as he stepped into the elevator another man walked in beside him. The elevator was silent awhile, awkard air to it, then the man spoke.- "I see you didn't get kiled like me and julia thought." The man looked Kojiro in the eyes and smiled. Kojiro smirked back at him- "Rin. Where are the others? I figured you guys lost my location after the proto dummies got killed." Rin shook his head as the elevators bell rung and the door opened- "Just stick to the original plan Sho, don't worry; where keeping our eyes on things." Rin pat him on the shoulder and exited- "You better...this is really more trouble than its worth." He walked out after him and took a taxi directly to building. He got out of the car paying the man, rather unwillingly, and headed for the room. He was asked his name as he arrive at the lobby- "Hello im Marcus.." He hesitated trying to remember the last name- "I'm Marcus Rh'Jod, I'm here for Elizabeth." The lobbyist shook her head and had a guard escorted him upstairs, for his protection of course. Slowly opening the door Kojiro walked in Beths office rather uncomfortable in the suit, but otherwise fine. « Last Edit: Sep 10th, 2007, 10:23pm by Llewellynn »

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As the elevator closed, he would hear the guard snort about him daring to assume the lady's name. Then the doors closed probably saving him. "Good evening, Mr. Din'Cara. Ms Rh'Jod is expecting you. Have a good evening. She stepped into the elevator as the door opened again and smiled blushing. "You look good. She will like it." Then the doors closed on her as well. Beth stood there in a black backless number staring out the window. her dress went to the floor but with her hip thrust to the side, he saw the long lean leg in high heeled shoe with the lacing going up to her knees. No thigh highs tonight, her legs were bare. Her hair, bound up and tight last night, cascaded down her back nearly to her hips with ebony and silver streaks in the mass of waves. As she turned the view from the front was just as lovely. The dress was low enough cut that he could see the piercing in her belly button, a small gold chain held the material at her chest keeping it from parting too far, but left a long wide open length from her neck to her belly button between the fabric that hung down both sides, and tied behind her neck. The dress then draped to the in a long line of black silk. Her eyes and makeup, done up to not appear to have any on, and her neck bare save for a single small black pearl on a gold chain. Earrings to match and a bracelet the same completed the outfit. "You're late." She smiled as she checked out his attire and nodded.
Kojiro smacked his forehead realizing he said the wrong last name as the young lady walked back toward the elevator and complimented him- "Thanks..I guess" Not at all used to being complimented, he didn't exactly take them to well. He probably was too used to people cowering in fear of him. Rolling the thought off his shoulder he gazed apon Elizabeths beauty, she was really something to behold, and the color black did her quite nicely. "Late?" Kojiro looked at his watch grumbled- "Sue me.." He crossed his arms and walked around the room in thought, he really wasn't any kind of actor.
She laughed and moved to the desk once more. "Have you eaten yet? Dinner is always impossibly late and never worth eating or enough. We can order something in before we go if you want?" She walked to him and handed him several menues, from pizza to the resteraunt downtown that took reservations months in advance and served only those in black ties and diamonds.
"Not hungry love." Moving past Elizabeth and toward the small couch, Kojiro causally plopped himself down into the furniture, skimming through the menu with a look of uninterest and sat it beside him. His eyes where transfixed on the glow of the city, what was he plotting? "Something...about this whole thing is off to me. How long have you worked for this company?"
She laughed and moved to the desk. Tapping in a number she listened to the ring and a voice answered in fluid Italian. Speaking back just as fluently she finally hung up. "Well forgive me, I had waited for you. But I need to eat." She moved to the bar, "Care for a drink?" She began to pour one for herself. "I have always worked for it. Atrus is my baby. I began designing when I was 10 and at 13 I hacked into the government computers and set in motion the virus they now call the "Melissa Virus". They downplayed it for the media of course. But within a moment, I had gained the personal emails and passwords of every government official on the eastern seaboard including The governor of all east coast states and the president." She laughed. "Needless to say, I had a choice. Life in prison, or work for them." She turned to raise her arms to indicate the surroundings. "Not a bad sentence, don't you think?" She laughed again.
"A slave within your own creation? Tch." Kojiro signaled his disdaine of alcohol and asked for some water. "I see, and about this Marcus what exactly happened to him, you never explained in detail" his eyes where focused from outside the window and onto her, his disposition was different today, he was more serious, more focused.
She handed him a bottle of expensive water and sipped her white wine. "No, you are right, I didn't." She slid onto the couch and smiled. "I like being 'slave' to my own creation. Nothing like the government to pay for your toys." She laughed and turned her eyes from him. Last night she was different as well. There was soemthing about Marcus she was hiding.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kojiro stared at her as she looked away, it was obvious there was more to this Marcus then she was letting on, what was the big secret? Kojiro sipped the water and shook his head- "Its your world Elizabeth, I'm not judging your actions." He stood up looking toward his watch, they still have a decent amount of time left. "So you plan on blowing the whistle on your Marcus anytime soon here?" His eyes narrowed toward her- Why was she hesitating?
She shook her head and sighed. "Your identity is safe. Far as anyone knows, Marcus went to the Cayman's and was killed when they bombs hit there." She looked back up at him. Her eyes seemed open enough, but behind them even he could see the shields. "Let us just say, I hope you never hurt me, Sho..." Her use of his nickname was a bit of a surprise. It was something about him that never made it to the papers or his reward info. She looked away from him and into her drink before taking a sip. "Your papers are on my desk. Help yourself. Driving license, passport, and even an old high school picture of you and a prom date, me..." The pictures would look oddly close to him as if honestly pulled from his past and the woman could certainly pass for Beth.
"Youve really been working overtime concealing my identity I would seem." The bogus info she had made for him made Kojiro laugh. He wasn't even from this continent, let alone from this time period. His people aged far slower than normal, his true age was only known to himself. Kojiro snickered- "is that a threat? Its impressive that you know that name, but not something a little bit of shadowing or detail digging couldn't entail"
She rose and walked to the window on the opposite side of the desk as if avoiding him, whereas last night she kept trying to get closer. "Marcus hurt me. More than any mortal ever had before. I got revenge." She crossed her arms and her hips went out again exposing a length of leg. But this time it wasn't to entice him, it was out of habit. It was her stance and she wasn't trying to lure him in with it. "As to you... yes. I have studied you for a long time. I know you are more than 100 years old. You don't have a birth record and the rumors are you killed more than 1000 men in the "Final Battle"." She looked across the desk at him and her gaze was dead serious. "I know you killed more than twice that in the ten years the war lasted. And even saw a few of them near the end." She set the goblet down and smiled to him. "I also know that the big brute we took down last night was not human. The others were incinerated before I could find out about them. But I wanted to warn you. Whoever hired you to help them last night, aren't who they appear. They lied to you and sent you in be expendable. I will not abide by anyone lieing. Cheat, steal, seduce and kill or rape or maime. But never lie to me. If you cannot be honest in what you are doing, then you aren't honest with yourself." She turned back to the window as there came a buzz and voice claiming her dinner had arrived. Pressing the button she told them to bring it up.
Kojiro laughed evily as he slouched in the couch and clapped his hands- "bravo, so you DO know a thing or two." He moved a finger across his chin as the menacing smile on his face gleamed.- "I knew youd find that out sooner or later, mind you I never hid it either." Sitting up in the couch he fixed his black tie and continued- "But if you think I'm stupid enough to play puppet without a trump card in my back card your mistaken. I'm not so taken by your looks that I can't see when things aren't what they seem. And it seems as though you may not have my best interest in mind my dear Elizabeth. I haven't lived this long trusting everyone I meet, and I'm sure you haven't either. So until I'm sure you won't stab me in the back I will keep my guard up. I on the otherhand, have nothing to gain from betraying you, moneys not an object and fingers would point directly to me if anything where to happen to you. Don't worry about me betraying you love, it takes too much work." He folded his leg atop another and fixed his fiery eyes on her- "'Like I said, your quite the piece of work."
She laughed then and went to the door to accept the covered tray of food then shut the door and set it on her desk before turning back to him. "You have me, Kojiro-san. I apologize. You are right. We both make our livings with subterfuge. You hide in shadows and behind blinding fast steel. I hide behind flesh of a perfect body." She went to refill her wine. "Marcus hurt me. Raped me when he didn't get what he desired. I killed him." She glanced over at him watching his reaction. "Does that surprise you? Nothing so femininely sad as poison or a gun. In the throws of given passion the night he came to apologize, I sat back and drew a dagger from under the covers at my feet. As he begged to see my eyes, I looked down, brought the dagger around and rode his orgasm as I shoved it between his ribs and into his heart. I took from him every drop then left him to be disposed of by those at MY disposal." She moved to the desk and uncovered her dinner of angel hair pasta and a creamy rich alfredo sauce with a fresh topping of parmesian. "You are right. I have my own agenda. I want to rule." She turned to him licking the finger she had dipped in the sauce. "With absolute power. I have been at others' mercy for so long, "I" want them to cower to me. Can you understand that? And I want you to help me get it because no one else can." She watched him carefully. This moment would cement them till the end or send him packing with plots of her death in his head. Which would it be, she wondered.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kojiro slouched back into the chair, by this time it was obvious that he had horrible posture. The cuff links on his wrists glowed in the reflection of the office ceiling lights as his hands moved slowly and rested behind his head- " I knew you smelled of murder Elizabeth, that's quite the interesting story." He nodded- "Very well. You seek power, so I will lend you mine. As long as you do not abuse my trust, your will is law. Break it and I assure you, no one alive will be able to save you from my wrath, no one." He shrugged- "But enough with that, what exactly am I getting out of this?"
"What do you want out of it? You know I cannot give you Excalibur, though I can see about putting the same techonology on another piece of steel for you. Perhaps even the one you wear." She lifted the bowl and moved to sit on the end of the couch beside him. "You already said my body isn't worth it, or something close to it." She shrugged. "What can I offer that you DO desire?" She began to eat the pasta and even that mundane simple thing seemed elegant and refined as she did it without smudging lipstick or dripping on the gown.
"When I said your "body wasn't worth it", I didn't mean that in a bad way. Simply put, this is not such a duty that one such as yourself should be willing to give your body away for. I would rather earn that right in a more...traditional means...if at all possible." He shook his head with a subtle smirk digressing away from the topic as he sipped the water- "I'm sure we'll think of something." Yawning he put his head on the couch and stared at the ceiling- "I must apologize in advance if I embarrass you at your party Elizabeth, I'm not very classy." Kojiros head raced with him impaling every fool who dared to make a insulting comment to him.- "On second thought ill just leave the talking to you. How long do we have until departure?"
She laughed and nodded. "I am sure you will earn whatever you eventually desire. No worries there." Eating a bit more she tilted her head to glance at the clock. "We have another hour before the limo will be here." She leaned back once done and sipped her wine a bit. "As to being eloquant, you are my body guard, love. There is no need for you to do more than look menacing and ocassionally let me touch or kiss you so it's clear I am 'distracted'." She laughed watching his reaction. "I want my enemies to think my new 'toy', forgive the title, has me so off my game that I am an easy target. Who knows..." She rose and carried her bowl back to the tray, settled everything back on it and set the cover on it once more making sure there was no sign of a mess. "You may enjoy it..." She glanced back at him and her smile lessoned some. "But most of all... I want you to watch and listen. People ignore the silent brutes. They talk around them as if they were servants. As if they didn't exist. And other body guards talk too. See who is a little cockier than they should be. I want a full report on the way back afterwards." Coming back towards him, she leaned down, a hand on the couch back on either side of his head as he was leaned back. "Can you do that, Marcus?" He had an unobscured view if he looked, but he would get the impression this wasn't a flirt tactic, it was the Lady of Steel making her will known.
Kojiro nodded as she asked of his compliance, she didn't seem to expect anything too complicated of him which was good. He handnt played the "Big brute" role before, which was obvious by his tall slender appearance, but being silent was second nature to him. He closed his eyes as she mentioned the fact that he may "enjoy" being her toy, this was obvious. His calm voice danced through the air like silk, if there was once skill that he possessed, it was that he was a smooth talker. "Is there anyone in particular I should be watching out for?" His attention turned toward Elizabeths face she seemed rather carefree about this whole thing.
Her eyes blinked lazily as if trying to gaze into his soul to see his sincerity. Apparently satisfied, she shoved off the back of the couch and straightened the dress and smiled. "There is a bodyguard there, brickhouse of a man, you won't miss him I am sure. Name is Brutus." She laughed at the cliche of it all. Absently she wondered if the name was real or for the image. Shaking her head dismissing the thought. "Someone has lead me to believe he in touch with the Man who leads the underground resistance. I still don't have the leader's name. It has eluded me for far too long. And without the dna tracers and information we could have gained last night, it is eluding me still." She paced as she walked, almost growling with her words like a caged animal. She needed to know the leader's name (Rin) or the help she would ask of him would never see the light of day. She wanted to get out from under the 'big brother' like government as much, if not more so, than he wanted it for humanity. Techonology was a waste when only ONE side, the rich and powerful, were able to use it without restraint. Finally she sighed and paused gazing into the city. "Listen where you can Marcus, please. Anything you hear, I am sure, will be helpful. But never forget there are still those wanting to kill me. I will not have my sword on me so please..." Her pleading look this time was probably the most sincere she had ever given him. "... don't let me get killed tonight. It will seem like an accident. And because of my past, Govenor Andrews will become sole owner of Atrus Corp." She was scared of something afterall. Scared to die and see all her work unleashed at the hands of the powerful. She glanced back out the window as if afraid he would read her thoughts, unaware the look in her eyes had been enough. "Eat some of the food if you want... I am done and we will leave shortly." Her voice was soft now as if merely being curteous.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Brutus eh?" Kojiro chuckled it was a rather trite image. But she had to know that Kojiro knew the information she seeked, but she persisted in not asking him Kojiro didn't know if this was good or bad, but it did he keep from from potentially uncomfortable situations. "Okay, ill keep an eye on him for you love." As her voice became sincre, Kojiro could see her resolve, it was strong enough to move him, however small that might have been, he wasn't going to let her be killed. "You worry too much, youl be fine, if there's one thing I do right its killing and staying alive. You have nothing to worry about."
She merely wrapped her arms around herself as if chilled and nodded. "Thank you." About ten minutes later a buzzer sounded and a voice spoke. "Limo here, Ms Rh'Jod" She turned to hit the button, "Thank you, Max" she then looked at him and smiled as if nothing had happened. "Ready to go? She reached for the long black wrap that was over the back of chair and headed towards him.
Sho stood up as if dusting himself off. He would never get used to wearing these suits although a sense of beauty did seem to attach itself to these kind of clothes and katanas. He shot her a devlish smile and nodded- "I'm always ready." He stretched a bit letting her lead a bit until they got into the limo.-
As they entered the elevator, she swept the floor length cape around her with a practiced ease. As they exited the elevator, her smile turned devilishly sweet once more and she linked arms with him as if they had always been that way. Once at the limo, she unhooked from him and let the driver help her into the car before the driver nodded to Sho and held the door waiting for him to enter. Before he could reply, Beth's voice purred out from the shadowy darkness within. "Come on Marcus, dearest. We are going to be late." She laughed softly as if they had been 'busy' prior to coming down.
Kojiro ducked into the limo following suit, his movements followed Beths lurring voice as his found a seat exceptionally close to her, close enough to smell whatever intoxicating fragrance she had on her person. The driver closed the door and took his seat in the front he rolled the window down once to confirm the precise directions that Elizabeth had given to him and then they where off toward their destination.-
Beth flipped a switch and the center window went back up. Smiling as she shifted to face him a bit, her dress openedto reveal the bare leg, but this time it rode high enough to show him a black garter belt. It seemed a bit higher than it should have been and a bit wider than usual. "So, think you can handle being 'arm candy' for the night. So many will be jealous." She reached into the pocket of her cloak and removed a small case. "Here, these contacts will mask the true color of your eyes. You still look like Kojiro, which I won't change." She laughed. "I want them to think its you. But the contacts can be used to point out your eye color doesn't match and we can easily say we dyed your hair." She held the small case to him.
Kojiro thought about what she said as he took the case from her- "I'm hardly arm candy, but I'm sure things will go off without a hitch." The contacts where clear; he was kind of curious as to what the color was but kept it to himself. He opened his first eye to place the contact in- "why would you want them to recognize me Elizabeth?" His focus was on the contacts, but it didn't take away the importance of his question.
She leaned back and rested her hand lightly on his leg as if it were perfectly normal. "I don't want them to recognize Kojiro. I want them to think Marcus looks kind of like him." The glances and whispers were what she wanted. The minds running rampant on the 'possibility' but the unlikelyhood. "The will dismiss you as being Kojiro because they KNOW there is no way you would come out in the open like that. The fact my new body guard looks like him is merely a theatric in their eyes. There will be rumors of plastic surgeries for you. Of me 'fabricating' a Kojiro just for prestige and show. They will be so busy thinking you AREN'T Sho, that no one will realize it IS you." She leaned and kissed his cheek whispering. "You will be fine, dearest. No worries."
"Its not me I'm worried about." The vague answer echoed through the small space of the limo it could've been taking a number of different ways. The kiss warmed his slightly pale skin to the touch, her lips where softer than velvet. "You would've been quite the strategist in the Meji era Elizabeth." His hand rested softly atop hers on his knee as his words sunk in. Coming from him, that was quite the compliment.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- He saw her blush for the first time as she left her hand on his leg companionably. "Coming from you, Dark One, I am flattered. We all do the best with the gifts we have. I was lucky enough to get both looks and brains. My weapon stills were learned and are no where near your calibur, but the rest is innate. Like your ability to survive all these decades. To blend in and meld from one time to another so you are always seen yet always unseen." She looked up at him. "Would you like to see what your eyes look like?" Her soft smile would let him now right away that she definitely approved of the look.
"Its fine, as long as you approve; then I don't care." Her smile assured him of this and boosted his confidence that he looked a bit more human. The limo stopped and the driver spoke as the window slid down slowly- "ma'dam, we've have arrived.." He then rolled up the window and rolled to the side readying himself to open the door- "Kojiro stepped outside and let the driver help Beth out of the car. "This is too big.." Kojiro shook his head at the brilliance of the house, obviously everyone here would be quite wealthy. His looked turned to Elizabeth as he waited for her to step out of the car.
As if coming onto a red carpet, her long leg stuck out first, showing a lithe well cut turn of porcelain perfect skin from ankle to high upper thigh. He would notice the gartered leg came out second, swiftly covered by the silken dress as her hand emerged and she let him help her out as the doorman merely nodded and held the door. "Thank you, Marcus, love." She leaned to kiss him whispering. "Offer your arm love, pretend you love me." She then let him lead them up to the house whispering once more. "No worries, wait till you see my place." She winked. "It's bigger." She laughed waiting his reaction.
The kiss was rather subtle, while it was obviously only for the lure that he was her lover, it still felt rather natural. He whispered back to her in refute- "Give me some time love, and pretending won't be neccecary." He winked to her as he led them inside the mansion, the idea of hers being bigger than this ine was obsurd. "Must get quite lonely in a place that big." The door opened and the crowd grew silent, aside from the whispers, everyone was staring at them.
Suddenly a woman came towards them squealing and smiling dripping in more diamands than one person should legally be allowed to wear. "ELEEEEZZAABBETTTHHH!" The woman came and emrbaced Beth hard enough to yank her, literally, off Sho's arm. As they exchanged kisses on each cheek, the crowd went back to talking and many looked away, though whispers could still be heard. "OH DARLING! Who is this INCREDIBLE creature with you?" The women held up her hand, limp wristed, expecting him to kiss it. Glancing to Beth for the answer, hand hovering, she smiled. "Forgive me Grace. Grace, may I introuce you to Marcus. Marcus, love, this is Grace. She is the Govenor's wife." The woman was practically drooling on Marcus. "Well well... you shouldn't have hidden him, darling, but you are lucky you did." She laughed then and it was high and shrill the way drunk rich woman always seem to be. Beth smiled to Marcus in silent apologee as the woman twitched her hand awaiting his gentlemanly duty as if to a queen.
He shot a menacing look toward Beth as he kissed the woman's hand. He couldn't get the word "disgusting" out of his head as he looked at her. She was snobby; and most of all, loud. Kojiro loathed loud women. He dug deep to smile after kissing the hags hand and greeted her accordingly. "Nice to meet your aquaintance Ma'dam."
She laughed uproariously once more as she withdrew her hand and patted his cheek as if he were a child. "MADAM! Did you hear that Beth? Such a gentleman. Well now, you MUST come to dinner and bring your little treat with you later this week." Without another thought she turned, arm raised and squealed out once more. "JOHN DEAR! THERE you are... come give me a kiss you old dog." And she disappeared into the crowd once more. Beth stepped up to him and pretended to straighten his tie. Her smile was so bright it seemed to light her face. "You were perfect, dear. I fear she may come to try and drag you off you show you about. But I will do my best to keep hold of you." She caressed his cheek like a lover in case anyone was watching and whispered. "Watch my back and I will watch yours." With a wink she took a step back and shrugged out of her wrap to hand to a passing porter. Lifting her elbow hoping he would link his into it once more, she smiled. "Ready, Marcus?"
Kojiro shudered- She was creepier than any warrior he'd done battle with. The mere thought of "dragging him off" Send a chill done his spine. He growled- "Gross." Her soft hand on his cheek calmed him down a bit so he thought a bit more rational. "of course, I'm on the job as we speak love." Kojiro had spotted Brutus, the man was towering next to a large flight of stairs, he made a mental note of it and linked his arm with Beths as he answered her with a simple nod he let her take lead, since he knew none of the people there.
She went around the room like a dance. Introducing him here and there as Marcus. To some, she replied he was a body guard with more to his arsenal than his sword, then would wink. To others he was a lover who was kind enough to offer to see to her protection at a price, also followed by more winks. The jealousy of the women and the anger on their companions was equally readable. At one point a large hand landed on his shoulder and a strong voice spoke low and deep in a near whisper. "I suggest, Kojiro, you release the woman and turn yourself in quietly." When Kojiro turns it would be Brutus he would see.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The nerve! Sho hadn't had hill fill of carnage in quite a long time, but brutus looked like a good canidate. Kojiro brought Beth within close proxmitity of himself as he swung his free arm quick around to the hilt of his katana with a agitated look on his face.- "And I suggest, that if you wish to keep your hand you release it from my person little man. You have me mistaken for another I assure you." Kojiros agressive tone was growing more alarming with each passing moment.
Beth spun with almost a choreographed ease into his body leaving him able to use both hands should the need arise, while she was pinned to his chest. As he spoke, she realized Brutus had been the first. It wasn't who she expected, but true to nature, she was quick to respond. A hand slide up Sho's chest and her lips brushed his teasing before she turned to Brutus. The hand then slide over his arm towards where he grasped the hilt. Her hand caressed his in reassurance as she laughed. "Brutus, love. I didn't realize you were here." He frowned as if it was an old line between them. "The Governor is here, Lady Rh'Jod, where else would I be?" Beth laughed as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Letting go of Kojiro's hand, hoping he would not draw the steel, she pulled his free arm across her chest as her back now pressed to his front. She was blocking him but remained close in case it went wrong. "This is Marcus Din'Cara, my new bodyguard. Isn't he delisc?" She leaned back almost possessively. Her eyes hardened as she glared at Brutus. "Touch him again and I will be the one to take your hand. How DARE you think Kojiro would show his face here amongst the rabble!" She was almost seething and her closeness would let him feel her racing heart. "I have always liked the dramatic. Are you REALLY so stupid to think this was truly the man of steel named Kojiro? Seriously?" She turned to dismiss him and kissed Sho's cheek softly before beginning to walk away. "Perhaps the Governor needs a 'smarter' bodyguard if you can't tell real from created." As she walked off, she would smile as Sho would listen to the muttered stammered apologies of the man left behind. As they walked towards the table of hors' douvers she smiled. "That will start the rumor mills swifter than even Grace can manage."
She handled that rather smoothly, he didn't have the paitence to sit and convince people of his idenity, which meant that it was obviously a good thing that Beth was so quick on her feet Brutus was likely to try his luck again in the future but not again tonight. Kojiro reflected on what had justed happened and followed behind her- "You have no idea how sexy you are when your blood is boiling love." He licked his lips, as the thought, she made that mans heart sink with fear.
Laughing softly and picking up a small cracker with cavier on it, she turned to face him and leaned on the table a bit cocking her head to the side. "You should see me when I am pissed." She popped the cracker in her mouth and made a show of licking her finger seductively. As the person who had come up behind Marcus took a piece of food and departed, the smile lessoned slightly. She had been playing the part again for onlookers. "You have to be careful, hun. If it happens again, try and laugh it off, or make an elaborate excuse. The bigger the better. All right?" She smoothed his jacket and stood back up all bright and ready to mingle again. "And I promise to be royally pissed for you whenever you ask." She laughed and winked and turned back to head into the crowd once more.
A middle aged man tapped kojiro on the shoulder a greeted him with warm smile- " Hello Mr. Din'Cara, I was wondering if I could steal you from your beautiful companion for a moment." He held out his hand- "I'm Thomas, I work for the Orcom Technologys, can I have a moment of your time?" Kojiro looked toward Beth as if waiting for her to grant permission for him to snoop.-
"Promise to have him back by dinner." She laughed and kissed his cheek whispering in his ear a single word. "Competition." Then nodded and waved as Grace began to make a bee line for them once more. "BBEEEETTTHHHHH!!!"
The man led him to a small outlet outside the main room where everyone was mingling. The two sat down. Three other men that seemed to be in the room as well came out to the meeting. "I won't beat around the bush. The fact is your friend in there has quite a few enemies. Along with myself, these men are from the 3 other major technological corporations in the city. We know she's invented a new weapon code named "Excalibur" our question to you is how much money do you need to give us this info, we know she would digress this info to you, so why not sell it?" Kojiro sat there silently, this was an obvious ploy to distract him.-
Beth made her rounds and worried about Kojiro. She discovered Thomas was indeed from the rival company, but he was also head of their science and technology department. Was this a ruse so Sho could tell what he already knew? Was it a plan set in motion yesterday? Or was she just being paranoid? She accepted a glass of champagne as a tray came by and excused herself from Grace and her husband. She had mingled all she wanted and stepped onto the porch. She stood there overlooking the pool, greatful for a moment to be alone.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Soon after Beth stepped outside a familiar face giggle slightly amused. Julia was all dolled up standing next to Beth with a ominous smile. "Fancy seeing you here. You look like your have quite a good time with my ex partner." She seemed to only be bother Beth for the sake of spite but it wouldn't last long. Meanwhile Kojiro had turned down the 4 men casually, laughing the boring bribery off as he stood up. "I wouldn't dare dilvulge such information to people as shady as yourselves." The men insulted seemed to leer at Sho as he returned to beth.-
Beth turned and smiled her charming best at Julia. "Your ex partner huh? And who might YOU be?" She looked over her glass of champagne at Julia and tried to size her up. She looked familiar and soon she would recognize her, but at this moment, the connection eluded her. "If you mean Marcus, well, perhaps if I tire of him, I will give him back." She laughed and bit her lip glancing to the stars a moment as if thinking. Looking back, the glare was unmistakable alpha as Beth took a step towards Julia. "On second thought... I think I will keep him. Doesn't surprise me why he left you." She began to stalk towards Julia and glanced her up and down as if sizing up a new morsal to chew up and spit out.
Julia scoffed at Beths actions- "Please, spare me. You know what I mean Ms. Rh'Jod. Rin is at this party and he is watching you. Do not think that Sho's betrayal will keep you at odds with us."Apon kojiros arrival to Beth, Julia had already retreated leaving a series of questions and possibly a hint of paranoia lingering with Beth.-
Beth was standing there almost at a loss for words as Sho walked up. She turned to look at him with nothing but blank confusion on her face as the words fell from her lips with a near whisper. "Rin is here.... Julia told me...." Her heart was racing and she lifted her free hand to her throat and glanced back into the crowded room. How could he be here? Who was he to get such an exclusive invite? She cared not which side Kojiro worked for. As long as he did what she wanted. But what of the sparks between them. She said never lie, her one hard rule... but that didn't include being used. She looked at Sho and the fear on her face was plain. A rare thing she never showed anyone. Suddenly it felt as if her carefully laid plans were crumbling.
"Calm down, what's wrong?" Kojiro embraced her and held her tightly- "Your worrying me love, tell me what's the problem." He was baffled, he wasn't gone long enough he assumed, for her to be attacked. And she didn't seem to be shaken easily, she must have found out something ground breaking.
With no one around to view the affect, she let him embrace her and assumed it was genuine. The question plagueing her was if it really was. She let him hold her, it had been so long since anyone had and set the champagne flute on the nearby planter so it wouldn't interfere. She rested her cheek on his shoulder. She was aware of his scent and that if she had been barefoot, she would have nextled near perfectly under his chin. Shaking her head slightly she finally spoke. Looking up into his eyes, she wanted to see his reaction, she explained what happened with Julia's appearance. "Then she said "Rin is at the party and he is watching" me. Who is Rin and what did she mean by your 'betrayal'?" The pain at the thought everything had been a lie was blatent on her face as she stiffened and looked dead at him. "Do you work for the competition and are you planning on keeping Excalibur?" She knew if it WAS true, it wasn't as if he would admit it. But she hoped if it was true, he would tell her. She could handle him walking out on her, though she admitted to herself silently, she didn't want him to. But if he had lied... about helping HER... she didn't know what to do.
He shook his head trying to calm her down things where obviously getting quickly confused. "I was not working with your competition. I was hired by the underground Radical group "Swartzchild" to reclaim the sword. This much I assumed you knew from when I appeared in your office yesterday." He continued on trying to show a hint of urgency, he didn't want anyone else to hear this.- "Julia is bluffing. Rin would not show up here if he knew I was in compliance with you. While it is true I have been in contact with him it is only to keep my ear open to his actions." A couple walked passed slowly as if there was a commotion nearby-
Kojiro kissed Beth on the lips and lifted her chin slowly as he whispered to her- "Regain your composure, your still in control. She's trying to rattle your resolve." Seeing the couple pass, he reclaimed her glass and handed it to her helping her regain her stability.
She turned her head into his chest as if he were keeping her warm as the other couple passed. Speaking into his neck as she brushed a kiss there, she whispered, "That was "Swartzchild's" clones yesterday? No I didn't know. And I am now guessing Rin is their leader? When I said his name had eluded me, I was being sincere." Looking up she looked at him but suddenly he kissed her. As he did, her whole body began to slacken. How could he be the worse thing in her world then suddenly someone she didn't want to be without. Realizing it was probably a ruse for the folks passing by, she smiled sweetly once more and nodded taking the flute of bubbly. Draining about half of it she looked at him as the other couple passed. "Just tell me you aren't going to use Excalibur against me or steal it away from me. Tell me the truth and I will not question how you came to be in my office or why those men wanted to speak to you." As long as her plan would work still, she could continue. It had taken ten years to plan this out and she couldn't think of it failing now. Not like this.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kojiro held her a bit tighter before responding.- "My dear, I honestly no longer have any interest in the sword. Its really too much commotion for my tastes. Besides, I am a Muramasa; that sword would not fair well under the weight of my dexterity anyway. I was under contract when I broke in yesterday, but I have since then alligned myself with you. I told you before I would not betray you. Trust me." He chuckled a bit before continuing- "As for those men, they where trying to bribe me for imformation on your sword. Obviously I declined love." He squeezed her a bit more before slowly releasing her.
She was momentarily stunned. He had changed sides? He must have decided on his payment and whatever it was, was worth his allegiance elsewhere. She only hoped whatever it was, she could give it to him. Nodding as he squeezed her once more, she nodded to the main room once more. "We should get back. Dinner will be served if not already. If we miss the seating, it could look bad." She hooked her arm in his, easier now with the boyfriend/girlfriend look than when they had arrived. As they stepped inside, she whispered softly before taking another sip of her drink. "Thank you, Marcus."
He winked at the lovely young lady as if to say: "Don't mention it." Pulling her chair out Kojiro seated Beth then found a place of his own next to her. They had seated themselves just in time the governor had just begun a long speech about "Self-Proficiency and the Future of Economics" Kojiro almost fell asleep. Indeed, if it wasn't for the Hatred filled stares of Thomas and his entourage, along with the vomit enducing winks and air kisses from the governors wife "grace" (which was by this point horrifying poor kojiro) things might have almost been normal.
Beth took the seat with gracious movement making it once more seem almost like a choreographed dance. As he sat beside her at the male, female, male, female lined table, she let her left hand rest on his right thigh. Giving it a squeeze every now and then as the speeches waned and dinner was finally served. She introduced him as Marcus to those curious enough to ask. She said having a true wanted man look-alike had always been a dream of hers. For those around her to envy her 'catch'. She laughed and hoped Kojiro would forgive her deception. It wasn't truly a lie. She had wanted him at her side for decades now. She knew of only six who lived the length of breath he and she were numbered in. Of the other four, three were quiet, good behaving citizens who merely moved and bequeathed their estates to their 'kin' on death. Only to rise up as the missing 'cousin' or whatever, and go on living. Of the last, time had made him mad and he had been incarcerated for nearly 50 years in the insane asylum on New Amsteria's prison island off the coast of California. As dessert arrived, a lovely young woman on Kojiro's left was asking about his love of swords. She was very knowledgable in them but had never learned to wield one. Asking for tips on where to seek guidance of such things, Beth watched him and smiled as he struggled to be polite, though glad the talk was of something he knew and loved himself. She squeezed his leg once more then set to finishing her chocolate mousse.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The young lady who was quizically asking questions prodded every detail of his sword. "The thing I don't understand is, that sword looks almost identical to the famous soul stealing sword Akujiki, the katana that was said to be able steal the "Yin" from a persons essence. The resemblence is scary. But I saw that sword at a museum, it was over 500 years old." Kojiro looked at her silently before ignoring her al together. Everything in his body wanted to say: "shut up, you talk too much.." He showed zen like restraint as she continued on, she didn't seem to even care if he responded, she apparently liked to hear herself talk. Kojiro sighed he looked across the table, thomas was still staring him down. The fool. He was signing his death certificate.
Hearing the mention of the sword and feeling him tense under her hand, she smiled across at the lady. "I had it replicated for his look tonight. If he really tried to draw it, it would be 'obvious' it's merely a replica hilt and sheath. But don't let that fool you. As my bodyguard the sword is completely leathal." She winked a silent warning the girl who obviously didn't want to be seen as stupid. Going back to her own dessert she smiled. "Of COURSE I knew it was a fake. I was merely commenting how well made it was. It's obviously not the real one." The woman finally shut up and Beth kissed Kojiro on the cheek. As dinner came to an end and after dinner goodbyes were said, Beth found herself waiting at the door for Sho to filter thru the crowd at the door. They had been seperated during the rush for coats and she ended up on the terrace out front awaitng the masses to leave as the limos came in reverse order of arrival. She stood to the side and shivered slightly in her backless dress. Her own coat was still inside. She hadn't been able to get close to it as she was caught up in the group heading out. Interesting, she mused, how even civilized people became 'herds' when the food was gone.
Kojiro sighed with extreme relief as she came to his aid.- "Thank you, thought she'd never shut up." The dinner drew to an end and Beth headed for the door, she didn't grab her coat so Sho got if for her. Among the crowd Kojiro ran directly into Rin, His evil gleam shot through the crowd straight to him as they came face to face. "So this is how it is Sho, you trade sides for a woman? She will decieve you, she will use you." Kojiro laughed a bit as Rin tried hs best to plead his case. "That may be so, but I was aware that you where doing the same thing to me. You act as though I don't have the power to end this all Rin. I CHOOSE to play sides, it would be just as easy for me to do this for my own means." Rin growled to himself realizing the clarity of Kojiros words- "You will pay for this Sho, I swear it." Kojiro laughed him off as he exited the building and wrapped the coat around Beth and planting a kiss on her cheek, making sure Rin would see.
Beth laid her hands on Sho's on her shoulder as he pressed the cloak about her. Tilting to linger close to his warm breath when the kiss came she whispered. "My hero. Was about to become socially improper in my shivering." She laughed. As the crowd thinned, the turned to look at him. Her cheeks were bright red from the cold and the breath from her speaking lingered like soft smoke between them, smelling slightly sweet of chocolate. "I hope you weren't too bored tonight. I am sorry for making this so sudden for you. If you want out, name your price and I will give it if I am able and let you go." She looked down and turned as Max spoke up from beside their limo. Not waiting for his reply she turned and went down towards the great car as Max headed for the door handle. If Kojiro wanted to leave, she would not keep him. It was like forcing a caged animal to eat from your hand. They had to want to be there.
Kojiro stepped into the ride after her, the cold air didn't seem to effect him all that much, his pale skin ambers every so slightly then returned to its usual color. "I have a question for you beth; and I don't want you to take it the wrong way." He closed his eyes as the doorman closed the door after Kojiro and took position in the drivers seat. His eyes adverted to hers, eye to eye to show his genuwine interest. "what ARE you? Your not like a regular woman, and its what's attracting me to you so, but it has me baffled.." His intentions weren't to pry, but he had to ask.
As he slid in beside her and the door closed, she smiled. "You have every right to ask since I know what you are." she leaned back and eased the cloak open a bit in the warmth of the car. "I am Faerie." She laughed knowing how odd that must sound. "Not the kind you read of in tabloids. I am the real thing." As they drove she smiled. "I said my home was bigger... we are here. Come in and I will tell you what you want to know..." As the door opened she smiled raising one eyebrow before letting Max help her out. "And show you." As he exited the limo and looked, he would see them back in front of the Atrus Corp building.
