Late night, or rather, third shift. Ari made her way to her Ready Room dressed in simple blue leggings and a deeper blue tunic top. Her ankle high black boots completed the outfit. She nodded to the skeletal bridge crew who was used to her late night arrivals. Their conversations continued once she palmed her door and disappeared inside. <e>

He walked off the turbolift and went onto the bridge and the Lt. in the center chair stated that the Captain was in her office. That struck Jean-Francois as amazing to see her still up and working. HE went over and pressed the chime to her office. <e>

"COME" Ari called. As he walked in, he would find her barefoot and looking at the display on her wall. It was a small sector of space with several planets, moons and meteor clusters.
There was a line thru the middle of the board. As the line blinked red, she cursed under her breath and went back to draw a slightly different line. It began the same but then twisted onto a different route.

She turned back to the board as the programmed beeped once more. She growled under her breath and shook her head. "Honestly, I don't know..." she responded to his offer for help. "I'm sure there is a corridor here. But I can't see it."
She pointed to the first past of the route. "I've managed to link these first three. But this route," she pointed to one of the next nearest bodies. "And this one," she pointed to another. "They are too far for the sling from the last point. They don't have enough momentum to sling again." She took a deep breath and moved to her desk to set the PaDD down, her control barely there as she tried not to slam down the device.
As if on cew, a knock came to the door. "COME!" she snapped then took a breath as her cook's assistant came in with coffee and tea and juice. The XOs favorite drink was among the choice as was Ari's. "Sorry, Johnson... thank you. NE Braxton can fetch the tray in the morning. Go to bed" She smiled and nodded as the tray was set and the man left.
"It seems we have been discovered," she laughed and nodded to the offerings. <e>

He was about to reply when the cook came in. "I appears so. I wonder how they knew I was here and my favorite drink already? That is very good service." He took a cup and poured himself some hot chocolate and then poured her a drink as well and sat the cup down in front of her.
"The reason that you can't find a route is that you are trying to hard and that you have tunnel vision. It is the same reason that it is bad for a lawyer to represent themselves because they will miss something because of the emotional connection they have with the case. You need to really step back and look at it with fresh eyes or have a third party look at it to help you notice something that you might have missed."
He took a sip of his drink. "Ah. That is good. And you mentioned momentum as a problem." He laughed a little bit. "I am sorry Madam Captain but as you should now with basic physics that once something is at a certain speed in space it will, in fact, remain at that speed until it either collides with something or gets pulled into an orbit or atmosphere or in your case gets sling shotted. SO your momentum problem is already solved. You just have to time it right for the others with the current velocity of the ship you are using and the angle of the slingshot."

Ari frowned and walked over to the wall display, turning the sim off and a display of their current location was once more discernable. "It doesn't matter. There are other factors to consider. I didn't come in here to argue about it with you." She picked up the offered lavendar tea and walked to the window.
She stood there a moment then spoke again, but she didn't turn around. "I am sorry. This is something I have been working on for almost a decade. And there are other circumstance to be taken into consideration. I won't bore you with details and won't ask you to help again." she took a deep breath. "And I'm sorry I snapped. You seem to have that affect on me...." She let the statement trail off because once voiced, she realized it was true. She was snippy around him. Had been for a couple days, when she wasn't avoiding him all together. Part of her had wondered why and the other part of her had shut it down. <e>
