8. Playing dress up? Or just a matter of need?

Niesa decided the time had come. After spending time with Lady Ayumi in the garden and seeing the woman's dress, it reminded her that three sets of clothes weren't enough. She had the floral nightgown she arrived in, a dress that didn't fit her well that a maid had given her, and her practice outfit. Given that this was now her home, and she was a ward to Lord Jasik, something told her she needed to fill the space in her dressing closet. She couldn't hide in the gardens or training circles all the time.
She headed down the hall towards Lady Britannica's room and paused outside the door. She had chosen the ill fitted dress because it made her look less harsh than the training outfit, and less waif-like than the nightgown, which was inappropriate for the middle of the day anyway.
Knocking lightly on the woman's door, hoping she wasn't disturbing her, she called just loud enough to be heard. “Mlady, it's Niesara... may I speak with you, please?” She smoothed the dress for the millionth time, knowing it wouldn't matter, and then smoothed her hair, plaited simply down her back. She sighed and bit her lip hoping she wouldn't make a bad impression. She heard this Lady was royalty in her own right. She didn't want to offend and hoped that coming straight to her wasn't out of line.
