Alizabeth Moroveston
She had been gone so long it turned out her room had been given away. That was probably just as well since she hadn't had her datakey to enter it anyway. She had managed to find an old shop keeper in town her recalled her fondly. He had given her the spare room behind the shop to sleep in, and a set of clean clothes for her morning visit with the powers that be.
The clothes didn't fit well, but they were clean, neat and pressed. Her own appearance wasn't much better. While showered and hair neatly plaited, she looked underfed and almost waif-like. She had seen her appearance in the mirror once, then avoided all reflective surfaces after that. No need to constantly remind herself how far she had fallen.
Arriving at the Senate Hall, she had one heck of a time convincing the guards she was who she claimed. Thank goodness identity was easily handled on this level. Granted, she had an escort, since beside her name she had seen DECEASED flash once or twice before she looked away. But it was to be expected. She took the escort with graciousness and allowed herself to be followed to Mr. Loran's Office. He was Chief of State now. She had learned below that Evan had departed. She wouldn't care to speculate his reasons. But secretly she could hope that her death had been hard on him. His absence was certainly hard on her. He was the one face she had longed to see upon arrival home. Adam was a wonderful friend, but a hug would have been a much nicer welcome. Perhaps it was better this way. Drunkenwell had been her first assignment. And to her, her first epic failure.
She quickly blocked those thoughts, raised her chin and steeled herself to explain what had occurred. Either she would be dismissed and sent home to a planet that she didn't claim anymore, or... Or what? It occurred to her she had no idea what lay in store for her. It was time to find out. Time for lots of things... she only hoped she was strong enough to deal with them as they came.
Arriving at the Chief's door, she straightened her clothes best she could, though it made no improvement, then knocked and called in a clean though strained voice, “Mr. Loran, Alizabeth Moroveston reporting in from Drunkenwell... Sir.” She then braced herself for whatever would happen beyond that door's threshold.

"Come in Miss Moroveston..."
Adrian had been in and out of meetings all day long, some with senior staff, others with Senator's, who were worried about their interests when it came to the war effort. Even with the winds of change blowing through every hall of the republic, there was still those that held on to their old ways, people who were more worried about their own needs and interests, rather than the needs and interests of those that voted them into the position. Trey called those people corrupted, and even took steps to try and weed them out of the republic all together, for a time it worked but with everyone that fell; another just raised up and took their place, and were just as corrupt as the ones that followed them, sometimes even more so.
When Adrian took office, it was one of the things he was going to take care of, try to finish the work Trey started. But now wasn't the right time to deal with such things, at the moment there was far more important things that needed to be taken care of first. Be sides those that were corrupt, had their uses from time to time, they have certain contacts, in certain area's which could be used in the current time of war. Contacts that weren't talk to someone like Adrian or Magges, but would talk to those of the same kin as it were, and part with information that under normal circumstances would be very hard to come by, even in a time of peace. For now even all that had to wait, and Adrian had to welcome back a lost sheep into the fold.
Once Alizabeth was on the interior of the office, Adrian didn't even look up from his data pad, he just gestured to the empty seat, which was directly in front of his desk. When Alizabeth made herself comfortable, the interim chief of state brought up her information upon his data pad, before he finally sighed and glanced up to Alizabeth with a warm smile.
Firstly welcome back home Miss Moroveston, I'm sure you've been through some very horrible hardships within recent months. But in situations like this, you have to be de-briefed by myself, and then by the director of intelligence, before you can be cleared to return to active duty. Of course the details of our meeting will be passed on to the director, but she might want to ask certain questions, which I might not ask myself. This does mean you might have to tell the same story a few times over, just so everything is clear, and our records are as detailed as they can be...so shall we begin?"
As Adrian asked the question, he looked down to his data pad, and brought up the reports Alizabeth's security detail came back from Drunkenwell with.
"Our records state that you refused a security escort, when you were carrying out you last assignment upon Drunkenwell. Care to explain your reasons as to why you refused an escort? When you knew it was protocol for all non-military personal to have an escort with them at all times?"

She had stepped in, closed the door behind herself and taken the suggested seat. She had known there would probably several days of debriefing. She had feared it would be before a panel of old Senators who would question everything from what she slept in to what she had or hadn't eaten before bed. As Adrian asked his questions, she relaxed a bit... THIS she could do.
But when he questioned her refusal of an escort, she sighed, shaking her head and frowned. It was worse than she thought. No wonder Adam hadn't wanted to discuss it last night. She ran a hand absently thru her hair and sat up a bit straighter. Her eyes, though rung in dark circles, were clear and bright with alertness. Whether it was recalling the events, or merely a slightly better than restless night of sleep, she didn't know. She just felt right in the offices of The Republic again. It gave her strength somehow.
After a moment of composing herself, she began. “Forgive me, Sir. But it seems a lot of information that came back was incorrect or mistaken. I had an escort. Several Republican Army members that included Adam Faulkner, Tal Kote and several others. On the night in question we had had a longer than usual meeting with the Drunkenwell delegates. They were attempting to gain more power than I had permission to give. They had already asked for and received more than the original agreed upon treaty had offered. It was if they were nervous about something. Even Adam, I mean Cadet Faulkner had been sure something was amiss. At the end of the day everyone was on edge. We knew the next day would be worse as we were nearing zero hour and our planned departure was only a week away.” She growled at herself, that night had been the worse fight she and Adam had had, but it had been necessary at the time. She took another deep breath, pushed her feelings aside and continued to make her report. “Cadet Faulkner was snapping at his men, and at me. We argued that he would not be able to stand a double shift that evening as well as be ready for whatever lengthy meeting would occur the next day. It was decided Cadets Mark Pero and Andar Mellings would remain at my door so the Lt and the others to catch six hours of sleep. It was a compromise as Ada, I mean Cadet Faulkner felt he should remain with me night and day and I knew if a crisis hit and he hadn't slept, he would be no good to anyone.” It turns out they had both been right.
Here she paused. “Do you want details of what I heard Sir, or only what I saw? I cannot actually confirm what transpired in the hallway before the rebels entered my room” She knew her story had to be as detailed as possible, but she didn't want to make assumptions or muddy her clear report with just her hearing and thoughts at the time.
