The moon of Ruusan was desolate. Save for the religious man in the center of it's training grounds. There was Jacob Murano, Templar of the Penumbra and Archbishop of the Church of Ruusan. Though there was a fancier name to the church he ran. So, the Templar sat meditating. Which was something he was accustomed to doing often. As he waited for his new student, Niesara to arrive he kept his eyes closed. Mind focused on today.
He would be teaching her all the skills she would need to learn. Jacob had rememered a time he was training under Invictus here on this moon. That and sparring with his fellow members of the Penumbra. Ah, how short it seemed to be that he was just a Neophyte himself. Although a few years had passed, Jacob had made it this far in such a late point in his lifetime.
Waiting there he continued to meditate....

Nisa arrived on the moon in tight training gear meant to cover and protect, but not hinder, a student’s movements in practice. The leggings were form fitting and she had added additional material to knees and backside. Her top, also snug but not restricting, was laced up at the neck and enhanced at elbows and shoulder points. She had no weapons. She hadn’t earned a light saber yet, and her daggers had been lost on her last trip.
She stepped to the edge of the training grounds and saw her Master, Jacob, seated in the middle. Padding on soft bottomed boots, she moved up towards him and several feet away paused.
When he didn’t move, she silently moved to cross her legs and lower herself down to mirror his posture. Arms relaxed, chin up, eyes closed. She took a moment to calm herself inside and out then let her eyes slowly relax and open to just a slit as if half dreaming.
She watched the play of Force between them, her own vines reaching towards his aura. It was like watching magnets, dancing close to one another, but being opposites, they would then just hover back towards their respective centers.
She then opened her senses, though not her eyes, a little wider. She felt the different living and inanimate objects around them with Force Sense and her tendrils reached to touch them here and there to see which she would be able to glean strength and help from if needed, and which would be better suited as ammo or targets. It was always good to know what objects around you could be used as weapons, regardless of location or situation.

Jacob felt her presence there as soon as she made her way to him. Already knowing she landed on the moon as he said for her to he didn't open his eyes. Whe she took a seat and meditated herself he then reached out to her aura with his own, connecting with her mind. It was good that she came, as this day was going to be interesting for the two of them. He was training a student of Invictus' who in turn trained him.
Still having his eyes closed, he said through the Force, Glad you made it, Niesara.
The Templar then felt her aura against his as the two tendrils danced and played together. Almost melding into one more or less. Jacob smiled as he meditated as he then kept his focus on controlling his emotions to a point but keeping his inner chaos intact. He stood in the eye of the hurricane where there was calm as the major storm raged around him. That was what he would teach her how to do. Use the Force like he did.
After a few moments he opened his eyes, "We'll begin with what you know. Show me what you learned with Invictus."

She heard him, she thought, in the back of her mind. Like someone whispering from behind her. She tried to answer but all he would feel is the caress to his mind like nails on a board. She didn’t know he wouldn’t hear her.
As he spoke of her showing what she knew, she opened her eyes the rest of the way and reached towards the edges of the training arena.
Drawing on her inner thoughts of disappointment and anger, at herself for having left to begin with, she drew the Force around her into a tighter ball of darkness. She felt it like slipping on a pair of gloves. Her fingers and mind controlling the tendrils around her as she manipulated them to her will.
She moved her hand slightly and about a dozen rocks, none much bigger than her fist, floated up with Force Pull and came towards them. In short order she had then stacked and balanced on one another, held together from her concentration. She kept her hand there and glanced towards the practice dummies.
Looking back at the rocks as they wavered when her concentration started to sway, she moved to her knees and focused again. Moving her hand swiftly towards the dummies, she Force Pushed the rocks at the torso of the nearest target. Nearly all of them hit dead center though a couple missed completely to the left and right.
Remaining on her knees she set both her hands on her thighs and concentrated. Looking up into his eyes she managed to lift herself about a foot off the ground with Force Levitate and then settle herself down again but it wasn’t the controlled landing she had hoped to show. She teetered slightly and had to put her hand out to keep from tipping. Righting herself, she bit back a low growl of disapproval at herself.
When she was done, she was panting and frowning. “It’s been a while. I didn’t get far before I ran… before I left.” There was no point in denying it or trying to claim she was more than she was. She had failed Invictus, she wouldn’t fail Jacob. As she finished, she was absently rubbing her hands together as she ached from tightening her physical muscles as if it helped her mental ones.

Although she hadn't grasped telepathy he would teach her no doubt. When she levitated the rocks and pulled them to her with the Force he then spun around using his hands. Watching with interest, the Templar saw she had control of that at least. The Force push that sent them flying into the dummies wasn't so bad either. A little practice here and there and she would be fine. That's how it was with him. Jacob had struggled early on as both a Jedi and as a Dark Jedi. Invictus had wanted better out of him as a Neophyte and he did so after practicing.
He then turned around again as he was about to say something. Then she rested on her knees staring into his orange eyes as she levitated herself off the ground. Raising his eyebrow he was impressed with it. Though she didn't land the way she wanted to. Putting her hand to steady herself. Shrugging at that the Templar then heard her say she hadn't learned very much before she'd left.
"Well, that's fine." Jacob said, "That's all Lord Invictus had taught you? Levitation, Push, and Pull?"

Nisa heard him and nodded. "I only had a couple lessons. I was supposed to be sparring with my peers when I left." She realized that now was as good a time as any. He deserved to know why she left, so he would understand that it wouldn't happen again.
"I was having nightmares. I heard my brother, Neis, Aberneis, calling to me. It was so vivid, so real." She couldn't stay on her knees. Her power flexed and fluctuated as she rose to pace. She used Force Push and Pull as she moved, stones dancing around her like small minions following in her wake. "I figured if my parents weren't really my parents, and I ended up here, isn't it possible they lied about him? About him being dead?"
She stopped and looked down where he was sitting. There was a small cloud of rocks hovering at about knee height behind her. Her power had flexed and acted like a magnet pulling anything small enough to be drawn to the well of the Pull she didn't realize she had created. "But he was gone. They showed me his grave. Showed me his medical reports." She looked down at her clenched fists. "I tried to find who had caused the accident, tried to find my real parents. I failed at both. Like I always do. I'm so tired of failing."

As she lifted the things around her with the Force he knew then she hadn't learned much else from Invictus before she left. So, as he listened to her story he then stood to his height then walked to her putting a hand on her shoulder. If she didn't calm herself and use her emotions or keep them in check she would be consumed by them and it would corrupt her. More or less in his mind like he let himself almost be with the Sith.
"It's alright, Niesara. Nightmares cannot hurt you. They are what we reflect from out lives." Jacob said, "I've had my fair share of them."
He then took his hand off her shoulder and then motioned for her to walk with him, "But, I will teach you how to better keep you emotions in check. You must learn to ride the storm...not create it."
Jacob then inhaled through his nose, allowing her to feel what he felt the Force was. Keeping his eyes open, the Templar then imagined again himself inside the eye of a hurricane. Walking through the eye till he reached the storm. Well, the part where the two met. Where the eye would end and the storm raged on. Then the Templar kept his raw emotions on the surface but rode the serenity he had within his own heart. There was strife and chaos but there was also a sense of peace and serenity.
"I imagine you were upset. But, at least you didn't have your parents killed in front of you while you were young." Jacob said stating fact.

As he mentioned her gaining control, her mind checked itself and she felt the draw behind her. She glanced back and managed to somewhat control the drop of the detritus in her wake.
As she followed him she nodded. "I think we all do." She admitted when he mentioned nightmares being common.
When he stopped and began to pool the Force around him, she tilted her head and watched the play of it around it. It was a fog, unlike her tendrils, and it swirled like a giant storm around him. Faster and faster she watched as the power built. Yet he remained always in its center. Never letting it sweep him away.
She knew her own tendrils were like extensions of her own limbs. She still thought she had to be part of it to manipulate it. As he spoke of seeing his parents killed, she bit her lip and sympathy filled her features. "I am sorry. I was in the car when it was struck. I was only one that survived. I think the Force either aided me, or helped me herself. Either way, I found out my parents put Neis and I up for adoption as soon as I showed Force skills as a child. Father had been hunted and didn't want the same of me." She didn't add that she never knew her real parents or that she ached to know who they were and if they were still alive.

Jacob looked at her, although down at her since he was rather tall. When she mentioned about herself being in the car when it happened he then felt sorry for her. He could understand wanting to know one's parents. Although he had his till he was nearly grown. But, he still felt sorry for her one way or the other. As they walked to where the main part of the training grounds were he then focused his Force aura into himself. Masking his presence for now.
"That must have been rough, Niesara." Jacob said looking to her and giving her a nod, "But, you must learn how to channel the Force like I do. It will be weird at first, but, you'll get the hang of it. Like I said, it's like riding through the storm. Standing at the edge of both the eye and the raging storm all at once."

*Standing at the edge of both the eye and the raging storm all at once.* she thought to herself, repeating his words in her mind.
She paused then and as she refocused, she saw his back and gasped. Without thinking, she blurted out. "What happened to your back?" It was covered by his shirt, but her Force Sense saw two places, about a hands length on either shoulder blade as if someone had removed a section of him. Her hand reflexively went to reach for them.
His shirt was still on, she could not actually see anything on his back. But somehow, she knew something was there. And it screamed weakness to her as if it had a sign written on it. There were other weak spots on his back that flared less bright. But it was the blazing of the ones on his shoulder blades that drew her like a moth to a flame. "There's .... something..." She frowned but she couldn't understand what she was seeing enough to put it into words.

Jacob raised an eyebrow as she gasped and spoke of what happened to his back. Although he hadn't told her about his wings he used to have. Though he wasn't surprised. She'd told him about her rare ability to see Shatter Points. Maybe that's what she was seeing. It would make sense though.
"I...used to have wings." Jacob said aloud, "They were removed when I ended a friendship with a long gone former friend of mine. His species has wings. So, I wanted to have them to fly with him. They worked, but, after the falling out I had them removed."
The Templar then turned around and pulled his shirt up almost over his head. There they were once he did. Two spots on his back where you could see where they were implanted at. They folded into one another and when they did they were compact and small. Didn't take up much room in his shirts when he did. Though when he took it off they unfurled and sprouted into wings. Though that was a long time ago.
"What do you see when you look at them with the Force?" He asked her curiously.

He had had wings!? She wouldn’t have guessed that. But as he lifted the back of his shirt, she saw the places they had been and growled in anger. She was mad that the loss of a friend meant he had suffered more than he should have. Realizing she was reaching again, she dropped her hand and stepped back. Looking to the other myriad of criss crossed marks on his back and varying scars, she knew her trials and tribulations didn’t even come close to what he had endured. “I am sorry, Jacob. I need more practice, but I think I can help you shield them so they are weak spots for you. I know with clothing on no one can see them. But if you cross an opponent who can see what I can, those marks scream blank spot in your armour.” She hated to point it out. But he was her Master. Just as it was his job to train her, it was her job as a fellow Dark Jedi to look out for him as well.
Someone felling a simple blow to one of those spots would, at the least, distract him, and at the most, wound and fell him.
She couldn’t bear to think of that happening and her frown gave away her thoughts.

Jacob then pulled his shirt back down before he then said, "So they are a weak spot on me? Hmmm...interesting."
When she apologized he then turned around and waved it off. She need not apologize for something he could work on himself. She could teach him a few things about Shatter Points he never knew about. So, he then walked over and put his hand on her shoulder again. Smiling he then finally spoke once more.
"No need to apologize. If anything I would gladly welcome the help. This is a learning experience. For the both of us." Jacob said, "I teach you the ways of the Force...and you can teach me to better shield myself from my weak spots. Since you can see them."
Jacob then figured he could teach her to run faster and jump higher then she'd ever known she could, "I'll teach you how to use the Force to speed your movements. Also you'll be able to jump higher then you'd never known you could."
With that the Templar summoned the Force to his will. Pushing the energy to his feet and legs the man ran off and around her nearly running at a blur. Once he felt she got the hint of speed he then stopped in front of her again. A wind was created from where he stopped and it blew past both of them. A smile then formed on his face then.
"Just remember what I taught you. Then try it whenever your ready." Jacob said, "If you fail...it's alright. Failure is a part of life, Niesara."

Speed... now there was something she could find useful.
She felt him rush around her and almost laughed. But she bit her lip and watched as the Force propelled him. As if he were using Force Push, but on himself instead of another object.
When he stopped and the wind blew past them, she nodded. "Ok, here goes." She turned to find a good long open patch and focused. She felt the tendrils begin to whirl as her vision of The Force around her and the storm vision of it Jacob had given her seemed to slowly meld. She them imagined that wind, that tempest, building up and pushing her from behind rather than swirling around her. She managed a good burst of speed for a short distance but on the thought of shifting direction, she lost her concentration and tripped landing on hands and knees as she bit back a growl.
She knew the direction could change, but she was envisioning a push. And a push was unidirectional and constant. Rising up and walking back she shook her head. "I don't understand. I can go forward, and I am sure backwards, if I knew the area around me. But how to do you change direction. It was as if the power shoving at my back was suddenly past me and gone as soon as I made the turn physically."

Seeing her run a short distance he then felt at ease. Though when she tripped and fell he was then concerned. Even though she was alright all she would need to do was practice more or less. With that even he had to practice. Jacob tripped a few times practicing that with Amalia when he was a young Jedi. Though he flipped back up to his feet the trip back to her he nearly fell again. Changing direction was something that had to be practiced. More then anything.
"All it takes is practice." Jacob said with a smile, "Try again though. Just think that the world around you is slowed down. More or less."
He then winked at her to try again. All she would need to do is remember to make a turn as the world around her will appear slowed down. Even her own movements will appear slowed. That was how it was to him. Whenever Jacob used the Force to speed anything he did the world around him appeared to slow down. When he changed directions he would usually keep his concentration. Although he was a Templar and he did it so many times it came naturally to him now.
"Remember to stand between the eye and the storm." He added.

She shook her head and looked back down the way she had first run. Try again... that was all she had to do. But how to feel it, sense it, manipulate it.
When he mentioned the eye of the storm, it hit her.. gyroscopes. Like the heart of a ship, it kept direction no matter how the ship was tossed. She would set herself up in the center of the motion rather that at its fore. Then ride it as it changed directions for her.
With her next attempt, the tendrils whirled around her like a maelstrom rather than like a tentacled creature. She felt herself propelled forward drawn by the push of one side and the pull of the other as the power wrapped around her. When she was ready to change directions, she timed her steps so her maneuver to the left and then back towards him was much smoother. She still stumbled, and her speed faulted on each corner but she recovered far quicker and managed to stop before slamming into him.
She smiled panting as she felt her power begin to settle to a steady hum around her once more. "Eye of the storm." She laughed. "Piece of cake." It hadn't been, but sarcasm was better than a begging of 'did I do it right, Master?'.

Seeing her dart off again he used the Force to see her. As she changed directions and then darted back towards him although she was coming in fast and was gonna crash into him. Though when she stopped just short of him he then smirked. Her sarcasm was rather funny and then she spoke into his mind he then nodded. She'd done better that time then the last.
"Nicely done." Jacob said then figured they would move onto telepathy, "Although we'll move onto something like telepathy. It's rather simple then it seems. All you gotta do is connect to one's mind. Then it's simply stating what you want them to hear in your mind. Like sending a thought out to anyone who's a Force user."
Jacob then did so as he connected his mind with hers, Can you hear me, Niesara?

She didn't have any idea her last thought had reached his mind. When he spoke of telepathy, she frowned. She had tried before, with other trainees like herself. But they always said she scratched at their minds and hollered.
Biting her lip she didn't hear what he said but looked at him and replied, "Ok, I'm ready." She then tried, what she thought, was concentrating to hear him.

Jacob then figured she didn't get it. So when she said she was ready he then concentrated. Doing as he did before he connected with her mind, then opened his to her. Clearing his throat he then nodded to her that meant he was going to send a message through the Force to her.
Can you hear me, Niesara? Anything at all? He said to her through the Force.
The Templar then waited for her to send one back, opening himself to the Force and opening his mind to her. Hopefully she would be able to. One could hope anyways.

This time she concentrate and envisioned an open void between his maelstrom and her own tempest Forces. When he spoke, it was feint, but she heard it.
Dropping her chin and furrowing her brow, she concentrated to send back. *I heard you, Jacob.* What he would receive, if it got through to him at all, was something between a screech and a scream not so much in volume as that it was forced.
Her fists balled as she concentrated and the Force around her swirled madly as if trying to force the thought into his mind.

Jacob heard it although it was almost a scream. He winced at it but it wasn't like he didn't hear her. It was just really loud to him. As she balled her fists in anger he then knew she needed a whole lotta practice with her skills. Not saying she was terrible but practice would work better then most things. With that he then nodded that he heard it. Moving onto the next skill would probably be a good thing at least to him.
"Now, I'll teach you to jump higher then you've thought you could." Jacob said as he then motioned for her to follow him.
The Templar walked over to a few sets of stairs. Although they were part of a building the whole building must have fallen before the Dark Jedi were there. Quite possible since it was like that when Jacob was here. So, he then jumped up one flight of stairs. There were three in total. All of them were situated in different spots. Although he was a Templar he knew she would be able to at least jump the first set no problem.
"You must follow me up here to the top." Jacob said jumping the gap to the next set as he waited for her.

Nodding and straightening up, she tried to think if Invictus had worked her this hard. She was sure he had, but she couldn't clearly remember. It bothered her, in a way. He had been her first Master. Shouldn't she remember him most of all?
As Jacob launched up, she made note of the power of The Force swirling around him. She watched him shove up from the ground and began to think of Force Push. As he called her to the landing he indicated, she thought of Push. Normally, her body was the brace, the object she moved was what was pushed. Using that concept, she used Push and bent her knees and pushed off from the ground beneath her. Because of the backwards nature of her thinking of the process, it teetered her slightly and she managed to land on the given landing, but it was in an awkward crouch as she took a knee to stabilize herself.
She looked at Jacob and frowned. "What did I do wrong? I pushed from the ground and used myself as the object being Force Pushed. Isn't that right?" The concept sounded right in her mind, but somehow, in practice, it had failed her.

Old 02-23-2015, 11:37 PM
Jacob watched her with interest. Seeing her land on her knee however gave him concern. It was then she made the assumption she was doing it wrong. Not in the least. She had some of the concept right. Not all of it but most of it. Most of the time Jacob pushed the energy to his feet and legs. That was how he was taught to use it. Might not be the same for eveyrone else though.
He then figured he would explain it, "The way I do it is that I take all the energy and push it to my legs and feet. More or less. Kinda like jumping really high if you want to imagine it that way."
Jacob folded his arms across his chest. Watching carefully to see if she would figure it out that way. Though it might take some time. He took plenty to figure out his abilities when he was a young Jedi.

She nodded as she realized the concept was right. But she needed to keep the Force in her legs and not wasted on the object she was launching herself from.
Taking another breath, she leapt again. This time over shooting the landing a bit, but landing on it none the less. Her control downward was almost non existent. Just up seemed easy, but it didn't occur to her to slow herself down coming down. It wasn't something you thought of in a real jump so she didn't think of it now.
"There!" She smiled triumphantly as she leapt up to the third landing and landed in front of him. Her face and hands had a sheen of sweat from exertion, and her training outfit was damp from it as well. But the glow on her face of accomplishment, even dampened slightly from the panting as she tried to catch her breath, was genuine.
She really needed to stop holding her breath when she concentrated. A habit she hadn't even been aware of till times like this.

Jacob then nodded as she then made her way to him. Although she overshot the landing the first time she did just fine. Seemed like his concept of it happened to help more then hinder her. As she stood in front of him on the last part he was smiling. She had learned how to do it and with his guidance nonetheless. He was starting to like being a teacher again. Having his own students and giving them a chance to do things on their own. Instead of having to baby them like he did as a Jedi more or less.
It always felt like he was babying them. Trying to give them something to draw from. His experiences more or less back then. Not now though. Although his experiences were vast as a Dark Jedi, Jacob thought himself more in between. Still using the Dark Side though but just in a different setting. Standing between peace and chaos was the way he thought of it.
"You did very well, Niesara." Jacob said putting his hand on her shoulder, "Glad you made it up here."
He then jumped back down slowing his decent as he did so. The Templar looked back up turning his head to look at Niesara. He then motioned for her to jump down. Hopefully she would be able to slow her decent more so then he wished she could. Not like she didn't do well going up...it was coming down which would be the daunting task.
"Come down but make sure you concentrate. You can use the Dark Side to slow your decent. More complicated then it sounds I know. Just try. That is all you can do." Jacob said with a nod.

She frowned as his descent seemed as effortless as flying looked. Both were daunting tasks in her mind and she balled her fists in determination.
Drawing the Force around her like a tempest once more, she stepped from the shattered landing of stone. She did managed to slow herself slightly from the speed someone without Force use would have descended, but not enough. As she hit the ground, she went to her knees and cried out a moment in pain. Staying crouched, she shook her head and glanced up at Jacob. "I'm ok... just slammed my ankle good was all. I just need a second." She growled to herself and absently punched the ground with her hand. A small indent from the force behind it reminded her she wasn't in control again.

Jacob watched her as she landed worse then she would have liked. The Templar walked over to her casually. Knowing that Niesara would be okay, the Dark Jedi made sure as she then kept to a crouch. Her cry out of pain before had signaled that she hadn't done well in her landing. Jacob had done that once before even as a Jedi Knight. Didn't stick the landing more or less.
"There is an ability you can be taught that allows one to channel the Force into your body to ignore pain till you can get healed or medical attention." Jacob said figuring this would be a good enough time for her to learn it, "It is called Force Control Pain. Again, allows you to channel the Dark Side into your injury or cut and allow blood flow to nearly stop. Also you won't feel any physical pain as long as you keep some concentration on it."
He then figured he'd add, "All you must do is concentrate upon your ankle. Let the Force flow through you and try and see if you can null the pain you feel, Niesara."

Control pain... that would come in handy. As she moved to try and stand, it occurred to her this was time she could show him something as well.
"Take a look at my ankles." She stood as straight as she could so her stance wouldn't give her away. "See if you can see which one is hurt. Look at the Force like you do when sensing someone's power. See if you can see a difference between them." Just like he was going to teach her to control her pain, she would see if he could sense her Shatter Point. If he could sense the weak spot in her right ankle, then she could see if Force Control Pain changed it in his eyes.
Teeth grit as she forced herself not to move, she waited knowing it would take him a minute, if he could see it at all.

Jacob then nodded seeing her straighten up. Her stance didn't give anything away luckily for her as he then opened himself to the Force. Like the tempest in the storm, the Templar concentrated upon it looking down at her ankles. Reaching out with the Dark Side he kept himself in check surging his emotions of frustration at not seeing it right away. He kept on reaching further and further. The only thing he could see at this point was her. Not like he could see her aura as he wasn't concentrating on it.
Then there was a pulse...and another pulse. It tugged at him like he heard her heart beat. There it was! The pulse was coming from her right ankle. Only though it was faint but he could hear the pulse a little bit. Just enough for it to come into his ears and his mind with the aid of the Force obviously. He then pointed to her right ankle then nodded.
"It's the right one. I barely noticed it but then there was this slight pulse where your ankles were. Then I noticed the right one had that pulse." Jacob said feeling like he accomplished something.

She smiled. She knew people saw things in different ways. She didn't have anyone else to compare his knowledge with, but it seemed to work. Now for a real test. "Good, it is. So let me see if blocking the pain makes the tell go away."
If she was right, even covering it with Force power shouldn't stop the weakness from showing. But if it did, then it would make her own training harder down the road. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Trying to force herself to that place where she was before she hurt, she channeled her Force into taking the sting and placing it just out of reach.
After several minutes, sweating and panting from the trying, she looked at Jacob and smiled. "It's mostly gone." She took a step and it was as if the ankle was several days healed. There was still a dull thud of pain, but not so intense she wouldn't be able to run or leap. "I guess you have to be careful with the pain block too. You can block the pain of a broken or damaged bone or muscle, but continuing to use it could cause greater damage. Right? I mean, it's ok to block the pain in my foot if I have to keep fighting for my life. But I shouldn't just use to because I don't want to see a healer." She knew from being a kid that if you left something unchecked, sometimes fixing it when it's almost too late hurts worse.
"Now, see if you can still sense it." This time she wouldn't be able to judge what would happen. With Invictus, she saw his headache, but he didn't block it that she knew of. She hadn't asked because it didn't seem her place. But if he had blocked it, she had still been able to see it. She would have to find the healer and see if blocks and Force power could hide such things.
She watched Jacob to see what his reaction would be.
