Already the death tool was huge on the station. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The console Mike accessed already showed a bunch of errors. It wasn’t hard to try and add a few more fake alerts to the pods above. While at it he tried to gain access to the pods, and checked if there was a way to lower them manualy. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt. Mike Stone, CE : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The woman crouched behind one of the consoles, avoiding the line of fire. Meanwhile Mike would find that the pods would drop if the A.I. core (the sphere hanging from the ceiling) overheated. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Kalika moved towards the robot and fired a phaser shot at its chest. It was on stun, meant to gain its attention. She then began to stroll right, hoping to draw its attention to her. “Hey… you… let’s see how you like being picked on.” She growled and wished it was more humanoid. Her Orion pheromones had no affect on artificial life forms. But her Klingon tutored skills ‘did’ and she fired her phaser and moved towards it, closing the distance in hopes of keeping it engaged and perhaps even stopping it. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : When the AI announced to kill them all, she shook her head. “I don’t think so,” and she glanced quickly around to see if an emitter somewhere could be shot at to keep the hologram from forming even more. Her mind momentarily forgetting the kids suspended above their heads. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt JG Kalika Darz : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : ACoS

The robot buckled a bit under the fire, causing it’s phaser shot to go wide and miss it’s target. The hologram screeched as it came close to hitting the emitters closest to them on the walls. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The Ultimate Squid (GMT) : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Mike raised his head from the console just for a second and smiled. Kalika was doing her job as only a great security officer would. He was confident she had his back which ment.... One menu, second menu… a slide here, a slide there… his fingers ran over the console. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Power deverted from life support, to slowly raise the heat. Extra power relayed to the temperature sensor, then taken away, all this to cause even more errors in its readings. A level 1 password security access requirement put over the emitters located around the core. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Mike knew an AI would break something like that in seconds, but when seconds mattered, it just might be enough. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt. Mike Stone, CE : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Luckily for Mike, another phaser blast hit the facility, preventing the AI from concentrating on counteracting his attempt to get the pods to lower. With a loud wailing noise, the pods started to lower, depending towards the ground. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The Ultimate Squid (GMT) : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Nevin had followed Darz’s lead and took a shot at the robot with his phaser. He was not as good a shot as his COS but hoped it would provide further distraction. Now the pods were lowering the challenge of disabling the AI would be Mike’s next priority and the distraction had to be good. His hope was that the hologram would focus it’s attention on the lowering pods and the safety of the occupants. He moved himself so that he would be positioned between Mike & the security bot and took another pot shot.... : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -Akorem

Kalika began during at various small objects in the surrounding walls. Her hope we that at least a couple would be emitters that would ‘blind’ the AI in some capacity. She saw Akorem move up protect Stone and made a mental note. Having security mememememe who didn’t need micromanaging was a great thing… Especially under pressure. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : As the pods began to lower, Kalika began moving away from Mike and going to draw the robot’s attention. Perhaps she could find a way to lure it to the hall and seal the door to keep him away from the rescue of the pod occupants. She glanced back and made sure she was in line with the hall. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : It didn’t occur to her that the robot would get between her and the room. She was only thinking of getting it out of the and away from the team. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt JG Kalika Darz : : : : : : : : : : : ACoS : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Mike was done with the console. He did all he could, and he only hopped it would be enough. The pods did lover and with a bit of luck, the AI would be busy just a little bit longer. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The robot was busy with Kalika and XO. Which made it’s back unprotected. His security training took over as he moved to the robots flank in a flash. Stone wasn’t sure if he was fooling anyone on his crew with his fake tricorder, but at the moment he didn’t care about that. Protecting the pods with kids was his priority. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : A powerful shot at full phaser blast shot at the robot’s rear, then two more times in short succesion at the same spot. The tricorder then dropped to the floor, smoke rising from it. The fast discharge made it too hot to hold any longer. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt. Mike Stone, CE : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Nevin glanced around to check what the hologran was doung… : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -Akorem

The hologram had started to reform, although, the image was even more corrupted due to the shots of the security chief. There was a groan as the robot’s ‘spine’ sparked a few times before the legs groaned to a stop. Whatever he had done, it had disabled the legs. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The Ultimate Squid (GMT) : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Nevin began heading towards the lowering pods. His instincts were now to check on the occupants. Once they were fine it would be time to kill the power to the AI. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Nevin whilsted and gestured to the med NE that was with the team who responded by tossing the XO a spare medical tricorder. He knew the hologram was still a threat but he knew that the COS & CE would be able to take care of it. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -Akorem : : : : : : : : : : : : The pods finally reached the ground, and started to open up, the children inside starting to wake up due to the loud noises. : : : : : : : : : : : : The Ultimate Squid (GMT) : : : : : : : : : : Mike was now weaponless, so he hurried to the XO. “Are the kids fine?” He asked. “If they can be moved we should get them out of those pods and to a safe place.” : : : : : : : : : : Lt. Mike Stone, CE : : : : : : : : Nevin gave his weapon to the CE - The engineer was more likely to need it now. “Once the shields are down, are we able to beam out of here?” he asked, “Where ever we are going the holo-emmitters MUST be offline.” : : : : : : : : “Easy,” Nevin said warmly turning to to the nearest child as he scanned them to so if they were able to be moved safely. : : : : : : : : -Akorem

“Thanks, ” Mike said and looked at the offered phaser. He felt almost naked without one. “Yeah, we can beam out easily, once the shields are offline. Back on the ship would be out best goal. The AI can’t chase us there.” : : : : : : : : Kalika gapped as the robot heeled when shots brought it to a halt. Phaser for from behind wasn’t something she had been prepared for and at first she thought she was the target. : : : : : : Setting the robot stop and realizing what had happened, she nodded to Mike, smiling. “Thanks, Chief… Looks like we’re adding you to weapons training roster. Would have for that skill to get rusty.” She laughed as she moved cautiously towards the immobile robot. She kept out of hands reach as she approached and moved to the side to see how it would react to her trying to get around it. : : : : “Carefull around that one. Give it another kick or two and make sure it stays dead.” Mike skillfully redirected the topic away from him and his shooting. Even with all the CE work he had, he knew only a rare few on board were as skilled as he was with a phaser or a rifle. : : : : : : As the AI began to come back into focus, she glanced up to try and find any more emitters she could take out. “Someone make sure we have a definitive Bean out location option.” She laughed again, “Please don’t shout it out.” Her laughter was accompanied by a sigh. No point getting the AI emitters offline so it couldn’t ‘see’ then if it already knew where they were heading. : : : : : : Lt JG Kalika Darz : : : ACoS : : : : Mike went over to the console once again. Shield emitters could be accessed from it, he noticed that, but he wasn’t sure about teleporters. Using Vikings was a bit too risky unless they only send two or three kids at a time. : : : : Lt. Mike Stone, CE : : According to the console, there was an emergency protocol that would transport everyone to the nearest federation ship… as long as there was no negative input from the AI core. In order for them to safely get off the planet, they needed to somehow stop the AI from sending a kill code to the protocol. : : OOC: Home Stretch Guys!!! : : The Ultimate Squid (GMT)

“Commander, with your aproval, I think I can get all the kids and us back on the ship. That is unless you want us to continue looking for any more survivors.” Mike reported. Personally he had enough of killer robots for once, and he doubted a bit there was anyone else alive to find.
Lt. Mike Stone, CE
Nevin was moving from one child to the next ensuring that they were medically fit and offering words of comfort.
“I believe that all of the children will be here, so let’s get them back to the ship. Can you access the internal sensors from that console?” he asked. Given Mother’s behavour he didn’t expect there to be any survivors but they at least needed to use every resource at their disposal to be certain.

The AI laughed, “dO YoU ReaLlY ThInK thAT it wIll bE thAt EAsy? EVeryOnE elSe is dEAd, and sOOn you wilL BE As WEll.”
The console started to heat up as excess energy was being funnelled into it, apparently the AI knew exactly what they were up to, and although she could stop them by sending the kill code, there were other ways to stop them as well.
The Squid Kid (GMT)
“OK, we’ll scan from the Viking,” Nevin called loudly for everyone to here.
=/\=Akorem to Viking, now would be a good time for a lift!=/\= he said.

Perhaps it was the reaction of the AI, or the fact that the hum of equipment suddenly shifted, but as the console heated, she was heading that direction before anyone touching it reacted. “What’s happening, Stone?” She had the feeling the AI would try something, she just hoped he would figure out what it was before they all were blown to smithereens. She lowered her voice so the others wouldn’t hear the panic that was growing on the back of her neck and creeping up her spine. “We have to get out of here. What do I need to do with these folks?”
Given the chance, she would gladly hold the door open, so to speak, to get everyone out. The trouble was, she had no idea where the ‘door’ was or how to get them all thru it. And all the yelling of plans had alerted the AI. Why couldn’t they have just understood her ‘don’t yell it out’ order and understood why? She sighed again and growled under her breath.

Although the console was heating up, there were still messages being displayed, such as, “WARNING, AI CORE OVERHEATING, ACTION ADVISED! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RESET COOLING CONTROLS ELSE CORE WILL BE FORCED TO RESTART.”
Another message being displayed was, “ALTERNATE AI CORE DETECTED IN VINICITY, PLEASE REPLACE CORRUPTED CORE TO PREVENT MELTDOWN.”
The Squid Kid (GMT)
Mike might have looked calm, but his eyes were almost furiously searching for a solution, as he watched the console. “The alert message is telling me not to reset cooling, but I think that’s exacly what needs to be done. Unless....” He turned his head towards the woman, still holding the android’s head. “Quickly give that to me.”
Was he replacing one evil with another? He thought to himself. The robot did seem friendly, unlike the hologram that streight up murdered anyone it came close to. Placing the severed head on the console, he decided to try and transfer the alternative AI core. If that wouldn’t have a quick effect, there was also the emergancy cooldown. But would the hostile AI reset to it’s non hostile version? That he wasn’t sure of.
Lt. Mike Stone, CE
=/\=hold on just a few more minutes commander. Getting in position to receive you=/\= came the Captain’s voice over the comm.
Nevin was gathering the children into a group and counting them…
-Akorem
“Just don’t beam all of us up at once using out teleporters! ” Stone yelled hoping the comm would pick his voice. There was true terror in his eyes for the first time since they entered the station. Killer AI’s and mad robots with weapons he could deal with, unreliable Viking’s equipment… he feared that a lot more.

Kalika heard Mike’s panic. ==Captain… I recommend three groups. Leave Stone and myself till last.== She hoped her own comm got thru.
She understood Stone’s fear. That many in a single transport beam would be suicide for half the group, she was sure.
She just hoped her suggestion wasn’t going to have the same results. She separated the kids into three groups and set adults or oldest kids with each to help calm them. She kept reassuring them, but wondered if it was more for her own benefit.
Kalika Security
Meanwhile, the transfer between the head and the core had begun. Already, the effects could be seen as the hologram started to switch between the corrupted form, and a smaller blurry form, “NO! I YoU Can”T DO ThIS ToME! I AM THE ONLY ONE YOU CAN PROTECT THEM!” Warning klaxons started to blare as a male voice came over the facility comms, “Warning, core transfer entering stalemate, please activate the emergency override.” Underneath the core, a console lit up, with a large button on it. The only issue was the fact that the struggling AI was between them an it.
The Squid Kid (GMT)
Nevin wanted to stay with the children. He indicated for both Mike & Kalika to get to the emergency override going in opposite directions around the AI in such a way it could only get to one. He and the NE Doctor would remain with the children blocking the AI’s access to them…

Mike went to the other side then Kalika, and decided to make as much noise and fuss as possible, to distract the failing AI.
“How are you protecting the children, by sloughtering their parants and everyone they know. They will be scarred by this tragedy all their lives. Did you plan to just keep them in stasis pods all their lives? Or what were you planning to do once they grew older and became adults? Slaughter them as well? Your algoritems are all faulty and corrupted…” When it pours it pours… It seemed like Mike didn’t need to breath for those several minutes that he simply let the AI hear everything he thought about the situation. Even if AI went after him, he would move out of the way, but he would not stop speaking. Suprisingly there were no curses, as he let the AI know exacly what he though of her motherly instincts.
Lt. Mike Stone, CE
The AI froze for a second, as the processing power of fighting the transfer and processing what Mike was too high for it to continue moving.
The Squid Kid (GMT)
A comm channel opened =^=We’re ready for you=^= the baritone of the Intelligence officer informed the away team.
CIO
Nevin gestured for the NE doctor to join the first group of children and once they were in place he signaled the ship to advise the first group was ready. Nevin himself remained between the group and the AI that had to make a decision which of the 3 officers it was going to go for. It could not go for both Mike and Kalika, but it could probably successfully attack both himself and one of them. The only thing to do was to trust his officers to react swiftly if and when the AI made it’s move…

Finally, the AI let out a screech and dove towards Mike, “LIES, ALL LIES!!!” By this point, parts of the hologram were fading, causing different parts of the body to become incorporeal.
The Squid Kid (GMT)
Seeing the AI fade aqway, Nevin looked around to see if the first group had managed to beam up…
-Akorem
“Then explain yourself, tell us how you intend to protect the children, how their future will look. What do you protect them from?” Mike didn’t give in. He dodged the AI and continued to back away from the others. Even though it’s shape wasn’t as solid as it was, he didn’t want to find out if it can still hurt him.
Lt. Mike Stone, AI tamer
OOC: Just to warn you guys, this sim will be finished by Friday, with Saturday being the furthest I can stretch it.

Nevin now moved to quickly cor-ordinate the second group to beam up. He would be the officer accompanying this group to the ship. The only weakness with this strategy was now that there wasn’t an officer to between the AI and the remaining children. The only protection that the remaining children would have from the AI was it’s own goal to protect them.
He signalled the Viking that he was ready with the next group to beam up. As he stood and waited for the transporte beam to take hold, he exchanged glances with Mike & Kalika. They knew what they had to do…
-Akorem
Mike just waved away Akorem.. he was busy fighting the AI and he hoped they would beam him last. Kids came first. He only needed to buy them a few more moments.
“Yes, indeed, us organics can sometimes be unpredictable and dangerous even to ourselves. But did you research Ghandi, Beethoven, Mr. Rogers, Bob Ross, Zefram Cochrane and many more. Musicians, painters, inventors and all around nice guys that only wanted to improve our sociati, contribute to it and humanity. These kids might grow up to be one of them, but only if they are free to grow up on their own.” He said.
If the AI would indeed search database for these people, he would tie it’s processing power even more.
Lt. Mike Stone, CE
The hologram started to twitch as it searched through the history. Thousands upon thousands of information files flickered across the screen on the main AI console. While this was happening, the head AI spoke up, “I have gained control of the audio systems, hopefully we can add in some audio to her confusion.”
Throughout the room, different voices spoke up,
“Compassion: that’s the one things no machine ever had. Maybe it’s the one thing that keeps men ahead of them.”
“Our species can only survive if we have obstacles to overcome. You remove those obstacles. Without them to strengthen us, we will weaken and die”
“Your will to survive, your love of life, your passion to know … Everything that is truest and best in all species of beings has been revealed to you. Those are the qualities that make a civilization worthy to survive.”
“Live now; make now always the most precious time. Now will never come again.”
“We prefer to help ourselves. We make mistakes, but we’re human – and maybe that’s the word that best explains us.”
The hologram started to fade in and out of existence, “WHY? WHY ARE YOU SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND?”
Another hologram started to fade into existence, it was a female form made entirely out a soft light, as if it had not chosen a suitable form yet, “But that is what makes them so wonderful. The moment one being understands another one completely, they have control over them. It is that lack of understanding that makes every day different, as they are always chasing after the impossible, and although they may never gain a full understanding, they do not need to.” Her lips curled into a smile, “Not understanding gives them incentive to build relationships, and grow.”
The Squid Kid (GMT)
As the other AI started to disappear completely, the glowing form looked to Mike as the familiar tell of the transporters lit up around him, “Thank you.” As soon as he fully dematerialized, she turned to the woman who stood by her every step of the way, “You know, I don’t think that we have formally introduced ourselves to each other.” She held out her hand, “Hello, my name is…”
