Liz hadn't expected him to suddenly decide to stay behind. He wasn't that kind of soldier, regardless what his rank was now.
Smiling and nodding she got him to the door and leaned him slightly on the wall beside it. "I am going to look out and find out which way is the clearest. I can't have you wandering back and forth more than necessary." She smiled and touched his chest lightly. "I'll be careful, I promise... and I'll be right back. Just seeing if the lift tube is clear so we don't have to take the stairs."
Before he could argue, she let go and opened the door slightly. Slowly poking her head out and seeing no one immediately before her, she ducked out. She had to step over the nurse's corpse in front of her, but she took a deep breath and disappeared into the hallway.
**
She scooted across the hall to the nurse's station to see if anyone was still there. Another two bodies, a doctor and a nurse, lay on the ground. "Can't help them, Liz... keep going. Get Tal out of here." She murmured to herself and turned towards the right to head for the lift. At the corner, she hugged the wall and glanced around it slowly. A few more bodies, visitors and uniformed hospital staff lay like discarded dolls. She heard talking and yelling down past the next intersection and saw another blast cross the empty space. She ducked back and quietly headed back to the room she left Tal at. If they could cross the hall in front of the lift, they would be fine.

-There were those times that Liz and Tal got into "arguments" on how to proceed. Of course, she was with the government and he was with the military; so of course that would happen. However, Tal had the kind of mindset that told him to stay by her side. Mandalorians were a stubborn group after all. Especially a certain blond haired mandalorian. His yellow eyes gazed firmly at Liz; while at the same time he was going to dispute the idea. Before he even could, Liz had peeked out from the door and left. Kote now holding himself against a wall couldn't believe this happened. She didn't want her to play "super-hero"... not like he had done it before in the past. He needed to do something. Using the wall for support; he inched himself closer to the door. Once close enough he peeked out himself.-
-It was almost like Druckenwell; both times he was there. Blood stains covered the walls, bodies scattered all over the place, and screams could still be heard. The hospital was in shambles. This all left more questions then answers. What exactly was going on? Clearly that one question that could not be answered.-
I don't like the sound of this.
-His head looked further down the hallway; to which Liz had disappeared. In that direction he could hear screaming and yelling from various hospital staff, doctors, nurses, and patients. His right hand now pressed against the door; Kote pushed himself up lightly and glanced. Worry slowly began to creep in for the young mandalorian warrior. Liz had been gone far to long... at least for his standards. Something had to happen. This time he could hear a blast shot not far away from them.- No this can't be.

Liz turned Tal's corner as a shot rang out from past the room down another hall. Seeing Tal with his head looking towards the shot, she saw him flinch. He thought she was down that way. She hissed just loud enough to get his attention. Sneaking up on him was a really bad idea in this situation.
"Tal...I'm here. We can make it to the lift if we can cross that far corridor. But something is happening further down that last hall. So it's gonna be a risk. You up for it?"
She was glad she was doing the asking. If he had asked her, she probably would have said no.

-Seeing Liz put some relief on the blond mandalorian; it eased him just enough when the shot ran out. Exhaling a deep breath of air; his eyes looked at her. Of course he was worried. Whoever was doing this had a very good reason. Keeping his balance with his right hand against the door he nodded.-
"If it's the only way to get out of here?" -It was a question, and yet he didn't expect her to answer.- "Then yes; I am up for it."
-Of course if something where to happen that jeopardized their safety; Kote would be the first to defend them both. Even if he wasn't at a 100%.-

Moving to put his arm over her shoulder once more, she smiled and bit back a short quiet laugh. "Mayhem, death, unknown enemy...all we need now is Adam and it's just like old times."
The old times... When she had been kidnapped. She wouldn't think about that now. Moving into the hallway, they started to make their way to the lifts. Once inside they could get to the entry and then out.
It dawned on her then that if all this was going on, the doors were probably guarded. She'd have to think of something else.
They were about halfway to the lifts when she thought she heard voices. Glancing behind then ahead, she bit her lip. With acoustics like they were, she couldn't tell where they were coming from. She didn't realize she had stopped walking.

-His head turned; bright yellow eyes fixed on what happened behind them. Or at least he thought something had occurred. There were voices, but not from behind. Kote's gaze move forward towards their destination. Something was going to happen. All the screaming, the bloodshed, and chaos. Sure this was a reminder of Liz's kidnapping, but Adam wasn't with them this time. Which worried the blond mandalorian even more. Pausing in their step now; Kote's eyes landed on Liz. Voices were echoing through the entire hospital... and not just the screaming. Something else was going to happen.-
Just what's going on? -That thought circled through his head.-
"Liz, we need to keep moving towards the lift." -He voice was firm. They needed to leave before the worst happen, and somehow Tal knew it.- "Don't stop... keep going."
-Worried for the worst; Tal was mentally preparing himself for combat. His left hand tensed slightly; though most of his skills in combat were using his prosthetic arm. He knew he would be able to fight if what he was thinking would happen.-

Her name from his lips shook her from her frozen state and she moved once more. Slowly and step by step she moved them towards the lift.
She paused, just before the intersection, and closed her eyes a moment to gather her wits before leaning Tal against the wall and moving to look around the corner.
In doing so, her body ended up almost pressed up against his like a shield. She knew it wasn't a useful one, and whatever was around the corner couldn't see them, yet. But somehow, with her front pressed to him and her head starting to look around the corner, she felt like she was being useful.
Just as her eyes were able to look around the corner and down the hall, she quickly drew back. Biting her lip and pressing her forehead to his chest, she shook her head and looked up. Opening eyes full of fear, she mouthed two words...
"Two men...."
They couldn't hear footsteps yet, which mean they were still pretty far down the corridor, but they were coming, none the less.
Her body was shaking. The fear was almost too much to push down and control. Tal was hurt and she had to protect him. Looking back towards their room, she wondered if she could get them back to it before the men came all the way up the hall and spotted them.

So it's not just one individual... -Came the thought.-
-A group of people had decided to attack a hospital on Naboo, and for what reason? All the screaming and bloodshed seemed a little unnecessary. Unless they wanted to gain something from it all. Spread a word of some kind to the Naboo government? That was a possibility. Maybe someone was tired of the leadership and possibly the ways the Naboo government were treating it's people. Kote didn't know the senator personally from Naboo. And of course he could very well consider himself an ambassador from Mandalore. After all, he had learned enough from the Chief of State himself on politics. He wasn't sitting in a military office for nothing after all. But if this was a cry for attention; then something needed to be settled. Tal's firm yellow eyes returned to Liz who was scared. Fear was taking a hold of her body just as quickly as that time back on Druckenwell.-
-Calmly the blond mandalorian listened in... he needed to know if they were talking. It seemed like the best way to solve a problem was to gather as much Intel as possible. But from this far off distance; Kote really couldn't pick up any words from the two men. Their movements only seemed subtle at best. Which was a good thing! Yellow eyes moved over to the various bodies laying on the ground. Open wounds from cuts and bullets were visible. Tal was trying his best to see if he could find a weapon of some kind.-
No this ain't good, -He thought.- Wait?!
-This actually hit him; his prosthetic arm was a weapon.-
"Liz," -His voice was shallow; only to the point where she could hear him.- "I have a plan to get us to that lift. You know my arm contains a hidden blade. That's the only weapon we have now that will keep us safe. We need to use it." -Tal wasn't at all implying he fought... though he would be more then happy to. Lifting his right hand up he formed it into a fist activating a mechanism that extended the blade outward past his knuckles several inches.- "I can activate it, but it's only as good as it's user. Our best option is for you to remove my arm and use it as a weapon to fight those guys. Trust me; it's the only way if we are to get out of here alive." -His gaze was calm, but it was their best option if they were to leave this hospital alive.-

"I'm not going to remove your arm, Tal." She raised both her hands to hold his arm, mindful of the blade. The thought of doing that to him made her fear press back into the recesses of her mind. She was once more stable, not shaking, her eyes focused once more.
She looked down the hall and saw the men waiting then moving into another room and she heard more muffled talking.
She shook her head slowly as he mentioned his arm. A weapon... lords and ladies, she was so worried about getting him to safety, she didn't contemplate other objects as possible weapons.
"Wait..." She bit her lip and moved his arm around a bit to see if she was right. "Tal, I need your help." She looked up at him and smiled. "How do you remove it? Can you? I mean, there has to be a way, to replace it, repair it. Maybe we can remove just the blade." She made sure he was stable against the wall and moved across the hall to the treatment room.
Quickly, though quietly, she rummaged through drawers and cabinets. A couple minutes later, though it felt like an eternity, she emerged with a couple tools. "Will these help? I am not taking off your arm, but we can use the blade if it comes off, or I'll use this." She slid her hand to her jacket pocket and came out with a small surgical blade. Flicking the switch, a small blue lance, like a palm sized light saber, hummed a moment then she shut it off. She couldn't bring herself to removing his arm, but she would make sure she protected him anyway.

Removing the blade...
-This was a new prosthetic that he had acquired several months ago. Of course -- at the time -- he had the engineer construct these new limbs with similarities to his old ones. They were lighter of course and held the same properties of mandalorian iron. It was even to the point where the old vibro-blade had been removed from his old arm and installed in this one. However, Kote was never there to see that process. This mechanic had constructed everything in secret; so even Tal himself didn't know if the blade could be removed. His eyes were calm and focused on the situation. He didn't really want Liz to do more then what she already had.-
"I'm not sure," -He said calmly lowering his arm down.- "It's of new design so I don't know if the blade itself can be removed?" -His eyes moved over to the corner of the wall where he could hear mumbling. After a while he looked over to Liz and nodded taking the small surgical blade with his other hand.- "If you can I'd like you to hold my arm still while I try and remove it okay?"
-Through the process Tal knew he would be cutting through some wires and other metal peaces. Overall, there was a price to be paid when it came to 'attempting' to remove the blade... pain. Even with his old prosthetic arm gone; attaching this one still required attaching of nerves which was painful. His eyes lowered down on the sleek design of his arm preparing to remove the top portion of his fore-arm.-

"Wait!" Liz had to cover her mouth to keep from laughing to loud. "Lords and ladies, what was I thinking." She reached for the small surgical blade in his hand. "Tal, I can use this for a weapon!" Her whole face lit up like she'd just made the greatest discovery on the galaxy.
"You use your arm if you have to, which I hope you don't. She smiled whispering again. "I'll use the surgical blade. It's small enough to palm in my hand to hide of need be. And no one will give a thought to look for it on me anyway."
She hoped he'd see the logic that seemed oddly obvious to her. But she didn't see how she'd be able to hold him up and wield his entire forearm if she had to use that for a weapon.
The voices got a little closer then muffled again like they'd gone into one of the rooms again. "We have to go now, Tal." She whispered softer to him. Her hand was still covering his where it hovered over the metallic limb. She hoped he wouldn't shake her off and try and remove the arm. Silver blue eyes looked at him with a warmth and fierce need to protect him that even she didn't see or sense.

Is it big enough?
-Well any object could be turned into a weapon; even a surgical blade. This would save the blond mandalorian the trouble of pain. Especially while trying to remove the blade on his arm. It also really helped in another form of protection; in case the surgical blade didn't really work to their advantage. Without really arguing the blond nodded and handed the surgical blade over to her. He wasn't going to fuss over this logic. Holding the blade firmly he flipped it around where the sharp end was pointed away from her (and towards his chest) and handed it to her.-
"Alright let's get out of here," -He responded calmly. Lowering his prosthetic down; he loosened his hand up. The blade retracted almost instantly in the process. The muffled voices seemed to grown closer and closer. One seemed to be yelling at one point then stopped.-

Liz expelled a breath she didn't realize she had been holding. If Tal had insisted on removing his arm or the blade, she doubted she could have survived the process.
Taking the blade, she shut it off and kept it tucked in the palm of her hand. No point in putting it in her jacket pocket, she couldn't reach if quickly from there.
"Good..." She chanced a peak around the corner and saw the men disappearing into a room now only about four doors down from their hiding corner. Looking back at Tal she nodded in decision. "I am going to tap the lift button and come back. It will take a second to get here but I don't want us vulnerable in the hall if they come out of the room."
Without waiting for his response, she glanced once more around the corner and dashed over, slammed her hand silently on the call button to draw the lift to that floor, then scurried back to their place at the corner. She was smiling like some child that had snuck something out of the house and not been caught. "Another minute, Tal... then we'll be safe. We can get down to the garage and I have a vehicle there. I think stopping to get my bags from the locker room would be a bad mistake. We need to get out of here and get help, if it's not already on its way."

-Sitting here gave the blond mandalorian some time to think. Hanging around the Intel department was a lucky break. They had taught him a thing or two; especially on information. It wasn't just combat oriented with those guys. It was busy enough for them gathering and deciphering code. Leaning against the wall; his eyes lowered slightly trying to think this whole situation through. Something seemed to be always on his mind, and this was no different. Of course he still worried for Liz, but she was also worried for him. Running out to hit the lift button and even evading the 'enemies' who were attacking the hospital. Just what was going on? Why?-
"I just don't understand?" -He spoke softly to himself. The question was haunting at him several times over. After a while his yellow eyes lifted to the sound of the men even closer then before. Looking at Liz; he nodded to her calmly.- "So long as we can get out of here."

Liz wasn't giving any thought to who was here or why. All she cared about, all she had tunnel vision for, was removing Tal from this situation and keeping herself from danger at the same time.
Just as she had been about to answer him, the doors to the lift opened and she slid Tal's arm back over her shoulder and whispered, "Here we go."
Glancing around the corner, she saw it was clear and began to lead him to the lift. They were almost to the doors when the voices got louder again and two men entered the hall just two doors down from their location. "TAL!" She whispered in fear as they were nearly to the safety of the lift.
Just a couple more feet, that was all they needed. Just into the lift and hit the button. It would be so easy....
